Farage/Reform got £12.000.000 before the 2024 election.
BUT
Breaking news over the last 10 hours,
Farage was given £5.000.000 by the Thai-based billionaire Christopher Harborne shortly before announcing he would stand in the 2024 general election, "for security"
Farage did not declare this, breaking parliamentary rules.
He should be held accountable by parliament and appear before a standards committee. Reform UK claim he did not break parliamentary rules. Oh really?
No one, No politician should be allowed to accept gifts without declaring them,
But £5.000.000!
Report from Reuters.

I am a non voter atm however, the NHS needs serious reform and Labour and the Conservatives have not filled me with any confidence there.
For all I know, a crypto hub might be the saving of the UK?? Exactly what is a crypto hub and why don’t we need it? AGAA4

In what way exactly are Farage and Reform more of a danger to this country than previous governments? AGAA4. Or is this yet another meaningless sound bite?
For all the reasons that have already been discussed. Farage being backed by the crypto king Harborne for one.
Harborne has given Farage millions of pounds firstly for Brexit and now to advertise Reform. He wants the UK to be a crypto hub.
There are a lot of other reasons like getting rid of the NHS.
You can look it up for yourself but if you are a reform voter you won't.

I would have thought people had enough to worry about with the Labour party on its knees than spending time even discussing Farage.
Farage and Reform are the real danger to this country so of course it will be discussed.
Labour Party is far from being on its knees.
It is still in charge of the King's Speech which has a proposed bill about this exact issue, cryptocurrency donations.

No, Primrose53, I always keep my eye on the prize. Knowing your enemies is half the battle won.

Well let's hope there is a thorough investigation into this . Not sure if that will make any difference to his supporters.
I fear it won't. Something horrible has happened to the country's values - maybe that's why so many of us are against all this hysterical flag waving. The country which those flags represent to the people hanging them just isn't the same country I regard as mine.
I agree

Attempting to take the focus off Starmer and his old has beens Gordon Brown and Harriet Harman? 😉
Er? This thread is about Farage and his £5 million.
Goodness me, people talking about Farage on a thread about Farage. Whatever next.

This money was a gift from a friend for his security. It was not cash, but money to pay a security company. He was not a member of parliament at the time he , was an MEP.
There is nobody on here questioning members of the Labour Party who have securityHe wasn’t an MEP at the time. all MPs are entitled to state funded security.
All MPs can apply for security if they feel it is necessary, a risk assessment is carried out and appropriate security is provided if necessary. He was offered security by The Home Office in June 2024 so he wasn’t refused it as he claims, he must have applied for it yet he received the gift allegedly for security early in 2024. There are a lot of holes in Farage’s story.

It’s probably right twaddle, they would vote in the wonky donkey if it was wearing a Reform sticker, but nonetheless being returned as an MP but with a severely dented reputation won’t help him. If they prove he has used some of that money to fund his partner’s constituency house, worse.
I'm sure there are a few wonky donkeys on the beach. Hopefully, the pressure will be maintained. It's naturally a Conservative area, so it needs the Conservative Party to get its act together or for a charismatic independent to be found.

Updated position from the Observer today.

Unfortunately, this is the penultimate paragraph of that article:
“My forecast would be that Farage will receive a lengthy suspension, which could trigger a byelection, but that he would relish this and storm back to victory because the good burghers of Clacton would think that he was being clobbered by the establishment.”
All the Clacton wards returned big majorities for Reform in the recent elections. If I were thinking of running to be a councillor or MP for Clacton, I would seriously wonder what exactly I would have to do to be elected. It seems they couldn't care less whether their local MP does anything, as long as it's one on the eye for the establishment (in this case, the Conservatives were the incumbents in Clacton).

In October 2025, Yusuf was complaining that Farage was not being provided with enough funds by Parliament to cover his security saying that party donors had had to step in. If Farage was already sitting on £5 million of private funds given to him in 2024 explicitly for security, why was it necessary to complain? Surely Reform is all about cutting public expenditure.
Let’s not forget that Farage has form for accepting large amounts of “private” cash from his mates c/f the £450,000 he received from major donor Arron Banks when he was between UkiP and the Brexit Party. He argued then that he was in “retirement” from politics and it was therefore a private gift.
I mentioned that upthread Graphite. Sounds very suspicious.

I truly hope so Casdon it would be a disaster for us in Essex if Reform gets overall control of our councils.
I don’t think it’s likely to affect these elections Cossy, it will be if he is guilty of not declaring - at the moment people are likely to give him the benefit of the doubt. Tomorrow will probably be their peak.

Reform are already pretty ahead in the some polls, with Greens close behind in my ward in Essex, would imagine this is the picture across Essex!

His “supporters” won’t care, he will spin things to become a “victim” and frankly many of his “followers” think he’s the messiah, their “saviour”.
In the interview I posted there is an interesting discussion about it being the floaters who will determine the election result, and this making them see him as just an ordinary politician after all, so changing their minds about voting Reform.
