Now I am really worried about the King and Queen’s visit tomorrow.

I follow something on instagram called Trump without Trump in which a normal person reads out Trumps ‘speeches’ .It’s like listening to a toddler speak gobbledegook.

They want 2 things:

1) To send their Military to the Hormiz Straits & men on the ground !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2) Not to end their membership of Nato with the Usa.

The further away that The U.K. stays from Trump and his phishing / bullying, the better the U.K. shall be.

King Charles & The Prime Minister should cancel visitors from the Usa right away.

Were there people thinking this was staged? Good grief. Social media is responsible for so much nonsense.

American people themselves thought initially it might be staged!

I, for one, can very clearly see why!

What I think has changed, -and you can see it on SM and indeed on GN, - is the rhetoric of hatred and division, which I think has almost certainly motivated the political violence we have witnessed. What we need to do is to stop and think exactly who it is benefiting from divide us as a society.

The violence in the USA can be almost directly monitored from the January 6th - Trumps rhetoric- the insurrection, to the more recent attempt on Trumps life.

I have absolutely no doubt that our rhetoric is driven by SM. Notably though last year in the USA was the first year for 10s of decades that violence from the left outnumbered attacks from the right.

I think one of the things that has made people doubt the veracity of the attempted assassination, is the way the WH conducts itself by capitalising on the events. This week they immediately used the events to their advantage by arguing for the construction if the contentious ballroom etc.

For myself I think it was prima facia (which goes against a very big minority of opinion) but believe me, nothing would surprise me.

More lies.

Trump and his administration have intentionally scrubbed right-winged domestic terrorists from government statistics, particularly those carried out by white males. They were open about this.

The status quo has remained the same. America’s domestic terrorism problem in the US has remained largely unchanged. Politically motivated mass shootings and assassinations/ attempts are still right-wing driven. The only thing that has changed is that this regime is blatantly refusing to acknowledge this. This is especially true of the USA’s mass school shooters.

blessedart the figures regarding the violence were gleaned from the data on CSIS.

I am reasonably confident that they are accurate and not lies.

However, I am very open to be proven wrong.

I agree.

I also was not in any way insulted by Oreo’s comments, I just felt I needed to explain why I felt the way I did and I stand by that, Oreo is just as entitled to hold and state her views as I am, we just didn’t agree with each other.

I will never just simply accept facts as true when they come from sources such as Trump, for reasons I’ve already stated, among many other things Trump is a liar and a fantasist, continually changing the facts to suit his own divisive agenda.

I feel sorry for Americans, especially those who didn’t vote for Trump. The man and his cronies are dangerous menaces.

I also stand by my assertion (my opinion) that security was lax. Any “normal” procedure would be to close said hotel down for that period and to only allow security personnel and invited guests to stay in the hotel and to check those entering the premises for the day, search them, take any firearms off them, they should all have been sent some form of pass or official invite, which should have been checked, alongside ID!

And that’s not to say there has been no violence by the left. The USA is a violent place in general, but when you have a regime that comes right out says they are moving the goals posts and changing the way they record the truth, people need to be worried. Vance is a white supremacist. Trump is a racist, liar. Discerning adults do not simply take the word of such people.

Well said!

Maremia Tue 28-Apr-26 10:12:27

The school shootings.
Wasn't there a Maga conspiracy theorist influencer who denied the Sandy Hook atrocity? I think he was taken to court about it.

No conspiracy theorists just people who doubt Trump. He has proved to be a liar and liable to do unbelievable things. Sensible people don't believe everything Trump says and disagree with much that he does.

Precisely! Sensible, rational adults do not merely swallow the stories of liars without healthy skepticism.

😁
It wasn’t Trump’s story, but if it makes you feel better for doubting…

There is some evidence now but not at the time. Calling people conspiracy theorists is insulting and must breach Gransnet guidelines. You can disagree but name calling is not acceptable.

It isn’t name calling, it’s a real thing to call those who see a conspiracy around every corner. Trump is a liar par excellence but that doesn’t mean all the events surrounding him are fake in any way.I’m always surprised given the amount of weapons washing about in the US that those with grudges or MH troubles don’t attempt more attacks on politicians there.
It was obvious from the start that this latest attack was decidedly real, and because he was arrested they quickly found out who he was and about his family warning police and messages on his phone.Even after that posters were still saying on here that it was a put up job.

Look very closely at the photo of Steve Miller helping his wife out. I am not a fan, but he appears to be the only one who made the effort to secure a partner.
Look at the top right hand corner of the image,
Who is that in the background, casually observing the unfolding drama?

Some commentators are claiming he’s using her as a shield.
As for the person in the top right hand corner, it could be trump.

AGAA4 Tue 28-Apr-26 09:12:40

Petra it is their right to disagree but not attach labels to people to suit themselves.

I can only speak for myself but I take no offence at Oreo or any other member who calls me a conspiracy theorist.
I take the view that if I post a comment that others might find offensive it is their right as well as mine to comment.

I was referring to those who did say it was all staged/hoaxed/faked whitewavemark2. So sorry if you thought I meant you personally.

AGAA4 It was obvious from the outset that there was evidence at the time that it was not staged. Did you think all the people at the Gala dinner were in on it? there was immediate video footage and photos and it was clear that these were genuine. The comments on here reminded me of weird events in the world where someone says something and some people jump on the bandwagon and convince themselves it’s real. Mass hysteria!

The security worked. The gunman got nowhere near the event.
We still don't know who shot the security officer.

Oreo It’s not a conspiracy theory to doubt any single thing around Trump, he’s a known and consistent liar and fantasist.

Clearly, now, with a background story and evidence from family members, this appears to be an awful, bungled genuine attempt to kill the POTUS.

I hold firm on my view that both intel and security was lax.

I don’t condone killing of any type, however I do recall the saying, “if you live by the sword….”, just saying!
