Now I am really worried about the King and Queen’s visit tomorrow.

Thanks imaround, those comments certainly did not help to quell the conspiracy fires.

For those of you who are interested in a good read, this article is about a focus group of regretful Trump voters.

I had so much hope in the beginning of the article, but by halfway through the cognitive dissonance kicked in. They think Trump is corrupt, but also see and accept Vance, Rubio and Cruz as the future of the party. As of these people arent just as corrupt and helping Trump do all the things they don't like right now.

I neither understand nor sympathize with the idea of a regretful Trump voter. He is as bad as anyone with a brain knew he would be. If anything, this proves that his voters are largely unlearned bigots. The evidence for this is their continued support of racist Vance and war mongering Rubio.

We know now that the suspect did fire his weapon and it is suspected he is the one who shot the Agent.

Maremia I just ran across this opinion piece. She makes very good points on the incompetence of the administration in this entire situation, but I posted it because they are talking about the suspects bullet can't be found on the scene and how that is going to spur on the conspiracy theories. We may be talking about the missing bullet until a trial happens unfortunately.

Just watched snatches of Trumps speech of welcome..

Well that was toe-curlingly embarrassing!

Was it all about him by any chance?

imaround Tue 28-Apr-26 18:26:07

I haven't watched a single moment of it. I am sure he was in form. As usual. The King and Queen are both the ultimate professionals in State visits, though I would love to hear what they think beyond closed doors.

I just catch up after the fact because I am an American Royal Watcher (TM) and love to see what they are doing all over the world.

Ok. I'll admit, I like seeing the jewels come out too. wink

I didn't see another thread on the visit to post this on, but the King and Queen look lovely. I loved her flag brooch.

Maremia Tue 28-Apr-26 14:39:11

Thanks imaround for the update on that conspiracy theorist.
Good result with the transfer of his asset.
Karma.

Maremia Tue 28-Apr-26 14:36:34

Hysteria? How does that fit in with the 'be kind' ethos? Or is it just more name calling?
wink

It has been beneficial to Trump as it's claimed that he really does need his fortified ballroom now. The fact that the president has to be out and about and a ballroom can't protect him then has been forgotten.

Social media loves drama: that doesn't mean to say that it wasn't staged.

And do we really think that the grey figures behind the administration in the CIA or similar are not capable of it

They have been engaged in Agent Provocateur actions ever since their formation, at home and abroad many now clearly admitted and documented.

Not to mention as a far more well known example,
The story of Manuel Noriega: the Panamanian dictator in the service of the CIA
for those who don't know it, its a shocking story.

A fake assassination attempt? easy peasy.

AGAA4 Tue 28-Apr-26 13:29:59

I'm just wondering who is hysterical. There is nothing to be excited about over this incident. It's all very sad really.

Were there people thinking this was staged? Good grief. Social media is responsible for so much nonsense.

American people themselves thought initially it might be staged!

I, for one, can very clearly see why!

Yes, the hysteria around SM.

Oreo Tue 28-Apr-26 12:53:51

At last! Recognition that posters were wrong to think that the event was staged.Hedged around with explanations of course.

The school shootings.
Wasn't there a Maga conspiracy theorist influencer who denied the Sandy Hook atrocity? I think he was taken to court about it.

First, still no news on the friendly fire. I keep watching though.

Second, yes. Alex Jones, I believe. And he just lost his entire business, Info Wars, as part of the settlement with the Sandy Hook families.

Best thing ever is that it was sold to the owners of The Onion, which is a satire site.

I may be the only one but I don't like labels being attached to people. It happens too often and causes division. People can disagree as much as they like but adding labels to those you disagree with is unfair.

Of course. Back in the day, GNHQ always zapped posts that labelled people.

Standards have slipped!

Maremia Tue 28-Apr-26 11:08:36

It doesn't fit the 'be kind' ethos that some Posters are promoting does it?

Of course not Cossy. Why should we automatically accept any narrative from Trump and his team. Trump who by the way did not fall when Security was evacuating him. Sure he didn't. The video got it all wrong.

So Trump/ Farage supporters, what is the attraction please?

One poster did explain why she approved of Trump. She said that one reason why she supported Trump was he had said he would not be involved in wars. I wonder how that's going?

Maremia Tue 28-Apr-26 10:38:12

You might find Frenchgalinspain that some UK travellers have already made that call, especially with regard to the upcoming World Cup fixtures. ⚽️

Cossy Tue 28-Apr-26 10:34:59

Btw, I clearly was mistaken about the assassination attempt being “staged”, however I was not alone.

I was wrong in this instance, I had very good reasons for questioning this attempt, and it’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibilities that this had been staged.

Of course, had it been staged, no one else, other than a very few, would have been “in on it”, it would have been a complete waste of effort if all attending had been informed in advance, had it been a “set up” then, of course, no one would have been made aware, it would have to look as “real” as possible.

In this instance, I was wrong, along with many others.

It didn’t make me a Conspiracy Theorist, (I actually found that quite amusing!), it simply makes me a person who questions things when they involve personalities such as Trump!

Frenchgalinspain Tue 28-Apr-26 10:32:17

The Californian who attempted to shoot Trumphet was positioned quite far from the goon and goon 2 (The Vice President).

Unfortunately the Californian missed !
