I wish! I miss my country.

Many of us believe what set Donald Trump off was a black man getting a elected president.

Yep.

Obama was plagued by the Tea Party. Tea Party = MAGA.

Yes - I admire the patriotism too. We have it here in Australia to a lesser extent. We are certainly not ashamed of our flag. There are some trying to undermine it,though but not to such an extent as in the UK.

I'm in America at the moment, it's got to be said they are very patriotic it's so nice to see not constantly moaning like us Brits

In 2016 Obama passed the 21st Century Cures Act. Section 24 of this authorises the insertion of nanotechnology into the population, without their consent as long as it does not have an effect that is outside normal life (or some such terminology). As death is definitely 'normal' this would seem to be meaningless and certainly something that a clever lawyer could use to justify - well - a hell of a lot. Things are not always what they seem, people in public offices are never what they seem. Too many people, in my opinion, love to wallow in Trump-hating and ignore all the other icebergs that are there, often in plain sight.

We don’t love to wallow in Trump hating…we just hate him. How any American of good conscience could elect a man with NO moral compass, a convicted sexual predator, convicted fraudster, malignant narcissist, LIAR, Vulgar and ignorant, is beyond me.. yes the immigration system needs repair … everywhere, but the way it is happening is not reform, it’s sheer cruelty. He promised low cost groceries, etc etc etc… and instead his stupid tariffs have created higher costs to the average consumer. He promised no foreign wars… need I say more. How is your Golden Age going? Icebergs …yes all CREATED by Trump the Lump! As for his chosen cabinet… sycophants all… I thought better of Siusie Wiles, but it appears even she can’t keep the deranged idiot in check! As for the right Supreme Court… about as impartial as a child handing out good and bad chocs!

@MaizeD

I’m not sure you have a decent grasp on US domestic politics if you believe that wildly simplistic statement is accurate. A sitting president needs a cooperative congress. Unlike Trump, no other US President in recent history had bypassed and sidestepped Congress in the manner that Trump has with (illegal) executive orders. It wasn’t a done thing. I was there. Obama was blocked at every turn, and yet the American people still had lower unemployment and lower costs of living. If you are talking about what Obama did globally economically, well it was never his role to prop up the global economy in the first place.

I wouldn't trust any of them
Using words like integrity and politician in the same sentence. Just seems like a contradiction it terms to me.

Not to forget Obama did much for the environment and park system something which Trump is tearing apart. Heartbreaking 💔

When was the bottom? 2019?

No. Surely the bottom is 2026 or to be 2027.

Biden: Regardless of whom the population voted for, Biden gave the Governors of Florida, Texas, Georgia & other states a budget to cover the losses of homes and properties from both hurricanes and tornados.

He did not hold it against the population if they did or did not vote for Biden ..

He is a good man. Joe and Jill Biden travelled to these zones as well.

He is a good man. I would like to have seen him have a chance to be president when he was younger as his powers were failing by the time he (thank goodness) beat Trump (but not at the expense of Obama - but maybe before him)

Yes, please make America normal again - well sort of normal anyway. At the moment it feels like some sort of weird nightmare.

Maremia Mon 20-Apr-26 17:46:03

Artols, long may you enjoy your residence in that beautiful State.

Maremia Mon 20-Apr-26 17:43:43

If you don't control the House and the Senate, the politicians block your initiatives.

Does anyone else miss Barack Hussein Obama ?

I think many Americans are now realising how good Obama was. Trump has ruined America abd I sincerely hope the Republican party will be in the wilderness for a very long time. Knowing how Trump was in his first term and the insurrection he caused in the capital, no way should they have given him the chance to run for President again.

I live in California having come over from the UK in 1991. It has always been a great country to live in and still is. Presidents come and go, but the country always seems to withstand whatever is thrown at it. In general it is a hopeful and patriotic country. I miss England of course, and visit when I can, but America is my home now, and I embrace it.

Is this supposed to be a counter argument to destruction of American civil liberties under Trump? Seriously?

Chocolatelovinggran Mon 20-Apr-26 16:11:42

My dislike of Mr Trump is from the beginning of this Presidency, when he elected to mock, publicly, a questioner who had cerebral palsy. I find this unforgivable.
I would suggest that neither Mr Biden nor Mr Obama would have done this.

Frenchgalinspain Mon 20-Apr-26 16:11:17

Biden and Obama respected the Constitution very very highly and did not create illegalities.

The D.T. circus is horrifying. I hope they are able to impeach and win the democratic voting during the mid terms in November.

I agree with Chocolatelovinggran. I thought they were men of integrity and worthy of respect. Absolutely everything that Trump is not.

Not to be repetitive, Donald Trump is sadistic, cruel, toxic, greedy, hostile, racist, hateful, revengeful, a phisher, a pedaphile and a bully.

Mojack26 Mon 20-Apr-26 15:19:05

Ye! A clever, intelligent, pleasant, statesman with an equally clever, pleasant and intelligent wife. The current incumbent is none of the above and never will be!

Wyllow3 Mon 20-Apr-26 13:59:35

Are you seriously proposing this as an example of why we should not welcome huge tranches of what Obama was trying to do

and praise a man who would take us into WW3 as well as destroying the social and medical fall backs for the poorest, in what is the richest country in the world?

There was a three part tv series on Obama which demonstrated the degree of negotiation skills he needed to get anything done against a hostile Republican party. He wasn't perfect but he was a million times better than Trump. Which is why Trump hates him and has destroyed many of his achievements eg Medicare and the treaty with Iran.

Yes I remember very well, how difficult it was for Obama to get stuff done.

It was so frustrating.

One of the best orators the USA has had in the last century I think. He continues to be.
