We don't need to actually rejoin to change significant trade and people terms and conditions. This is the way ahead.

The EU, especially with the changes in Hungary, and ourselves now, have a great deal more in common, with Trumps messing with tariffs and trade on off on off.

I agree Basgetti but we are where we are. Brexit feels like a decision made in a different world now, everything has changed and though we can’t join the EU again - it would be too costly and protracted and the EU may not want us 🙄- Starmer is spot on to get closer to our neighbours and allies in uncertain times. There is safety in numbers. And the US has proved that it can become our enemy just as easily as our ally so even with another president in place in 2 years time I think we have to have a contingency plan in place because trusting the US is not a great idea whoever is in charge.

It’s crystal clear from polling that were a referendum to take place today, there would be a greater majority wishing to rejoin the EU than the tiny margin that caused the disastrous exit.

I will be quite pleased if the deal is scrapped. I thought that the enormous data centres that we were going to build here were a really terrible idea. There would be some jobs during the building of it, but very few jobs, about 40, when it is up and running as they need very little human input. These centres use enormous amounts of water, and are thus very bad for the enviroment.

Hopefully we will see the end of the idea that we will sign up for the Palantir deal (think Trump -land type deal with a high end Trump type company:

that will tie us to the USA for vital NHS functions and supplies for ages

and has been fought against for a very long time

will flounder and we will go elsewhere.

Sounds like Europe is already making plans with regard to Trump pulling out of NATO. To not do this would be to put countries in peril.

So Starmer should have joined in an illegal war to appease Trump??
I don’t think any of this is related to Brexit. Starmer has to form closer ties with European allies right now in order to defend the nation seeing as Trump is increasingly hostile and aggressive to Europe and the UK. And he is also a very dangerous loose cannon, on top of the threat we face with Putin.

All eyes now turn to Europe.

For a number of reasons our policy decision to work towards dynamic alignment makes more sense as each day passes.

The massive hit we took as a result of Brexit has to be reversed if at all possible.

According to the IMF the U.K. is going to be one of the hardest hit as a result of Trumps actions. We desperately need to help our business including our farmers.

IMO regardless of how good the next POTUS may be, the damage done to America's relationship and reputation not just with the UK but so many other countries, will never be completely repaired.
