When is a royal tour, not a royal tour?

Silly me! It's when you visit a children's hospital and wave at the crowds. As well as visiting a homeless refuge and a War Memorial. Not forgetting attending an Invictus event and the last post ceremony on Anzac Day.
Plus the inevitable money making events which are now allowed.
Harry and Meghan's visit to Australia, (in very high shoes and expensive outfits).
Forgive my confusion. Am I missing the point? 😆

Why does my dislike of someone who lies make me a bitch ? Hello

MarieElla Sun 19-Apr-26 17:23:44

Between 10 and 25%...she is very foolish if she thinks this will make her more popular.

Washerwoman Sun 19-Apr-26 16:32:05

I think the bit I find the tackiest is the promoting the clothes she wears on a commercial website.Clothes worn to visit sick children and survivors of a massacre.I've no doubt it drives attention to certain designers and in Meghan speak that is 'empowering ' and in'investing in women' .Still the cynical part of me thinks what % does she gain by?

MarieElla Sun 19-Apr-26 16:26:58

Yes but if you're neutral about a subject , it implies lack of interest so why bother to clink on it?

Maremia Sun 19-Apr-26 16:19:31

You don't have to be pro or con an issue to read a Thread on Gransnet.

Allira 13.27.

You certainly seem to be a follower of M Allira and appear to want to post negative inferences about her. Not sure what you source is, or what the circumstances of "lost' employees might be. Were they actually lost, resigned, sacked for breach of confidentiality clauses, left to have a baby, moved country- could be all kinds of circumstances. Is 18 a bad number compared to others? Neither am I interested in speculation of how many staff may have been appointed, lost, dismissed, resigned or left over how ever many years for any other celebrity or RF member.

With reference to your suggestions- I agree its useful for posters to make clear who they are quoting or who they are responding to. I always seek to make clear. I use inverted commas to quote other posters, usually after typing their name and time of their quote. As I directly followed you at 13.15, I did make clear your name and quoted you directly and ended your direct quote with speech inverted commas. this time- didnt add the time. If you look you can see the inverted commas.

As for stars, underscores or strike throughs, links etc my MacBook doesn't allow those facilities on Gransnet so not able to comply with that suggestion - sorry.

a follower of M
Oh, how funny!

No, just facts. It's really rather difficult to avoid Meghan and Harry on TV, the media, Gransnet and Mumsnet too, especially when they try so hard to avoid publicity.

Oh ok. Interesting. I was wondering whether or not to buy one.

MarieElla Sun 19-Apr-26 15:50:35

LemonJam, if you are neutral why read the thread?
Just scroll by and read one that interests you?
I never click on a title that I'm neutral about. It's very odd!
Did you come on here to tell us all off??

MartavTaurus Sun 19-Apr-26 15:28:25

Yes, 🥱!
But you've certainly helped swell the posts on this thread,LemonJam to now bring it into the top 5 on N & P behind Mandelson. 😆

In some ways, I agree with a poster who says M & H have achieved what they hoped to. ie keeping themselves interesting, in a weird way.

Maybe Meghan and Harry are a sort of form of entertainment for people, which then puts them firmly in the celebrity category. The trouble is, the quasi royal aspects of the tour make things confusing. And that's where we started from here.

As an aside, I must say though, that many of the names contributing to this thread are also more than capable of discussing other, more profound, subjects in the N & P section. So woe betide anyone getting snooty and looking down their superior noses!!

LemonJam Sun 19-Apr-26 15:10:37

Vegansrock 15 April 05.32 : 'Oh we haven't had a Meghan bitchfest for ages…. Lets all pile on…..'

Exactly 🥱- I was a fairly late comer to this thread and just watched the pile on develop but then felt prompted to post. I have said several times I have no love/positive feelings towards M and H and no hate/negative feeling towards M and H- I am neutral. However the level of negativity and global trolling and vitriol towards M particularly I feel is unwarranted and disproportionate.

LemonJam Sun 19-Apr-26 14:57:01

Oreo 14.49 - I've just tried pressing the quote facility as you state- that doesn't work on a MacBook either 🤷‍♀️

No I'm not Meghan's biggest fan Oreo. I am neutral towards her.

Oreo Sun 19-Apr-26 14:49:01

Also LemonJam to make your posts clear, why not use the quote facility which then appears in a box along with your comment if you can’t use the italics.

Oreo Sun 19-Apr-26 14:46:27

You seem to be Meg’s number one fan! 😄

Usedtobeblonde Sun 19-Apr-26 14:32:13

First and last post on this thread, Meghan appears to be a chancer and Harry is totally influenced by her.
My opinion and I shall stick with it.

MarieElla Sun 19-Apr-26 14:20:15

Harry is weak but with a vindictive streak..he is unable to see other's points of view.
Meghan is fake and greedy.
Neither are doing themselves any favours by not taking advice.
I feel sorry for their children who are called Prince and Princess but have no relationship with other members the royal family!
I wonder how they will judge their parents in the future!

LemonJam Sun 19-Apr-26 13:51:28

If anyone else has a MacBook and has worked out the way to do so please feel free to advise 😊

I believe Meghan has lost 18 members of staff in just a few years.
That is a large turnover. Those who worked for her when she was a working Royal have maintained a silence. I don't know if subsequent ones have done the same as I am not a follower of celebs which is what they are now.

Nor am I particularly a follower of the Royal Family I should add.

Can I just suggest that, if you are quoting someone else's post, you might use ^^ so that it makes it clear it is someone else's words.

I've noticed that many new posters don't seem aware of that facility, not just you.
Only a suggestion, not an order!

Bold: * * gives hello

Allira:Well, she does seem to go through life upsetting people.

Not that any of them would be trolling her, of course, as they maintain a dignified silence in the main, family, friends and those very many staff members who have been left bewildered and distressed.

Trolling is vile whoever the target.
Diverse views and discussion are fine and if someone seeks publicity it is part and parcel of living a life in the limelight"

Does she. Some more than others it would seem. M's other family members maintaining a dignified silence- no that's true. M's father is very vocal for example. Recent father's hospital stay he actively sought DM coverage and criticised M- she maintained a fairly dignified not rising to the bait response. There was much disproportionate trolling of M on social media in the press about that as a result of her father seeking press coverage.

The RF have spokespeople/"friends" and communication employees who speak to the press- but fair to say both RY and H and M have been somewhat more constrained more recently.

Both H and M and respective family members left bewildered and distressed most likely- sad all round.

I do agree trolling is vile- we should discourage it and not amplify it.

Allira- 12.45; "Nah, not really. 🤷‍♀️"

That's fine- I'm happy to rest my view that M is trolled on line and in the media more often, to a greater extent, internationally, than any other woman in the world. And that she has received many, real and credible, actual death threats, that have resulted in prosecutions.

Allira Sun 19-Apr-26 12:45:15

Allira- 11.37.

Do you hold an alternative view? If so which other woman in the world would you suggest is trolled on line and in the media as often, to a greater extent, internationally, than M, that has received as many, real and credible, actual death threats, that have been investigated and prosecuted?

Nah, not really. 🤷‍♀️

I'm not that interested in celebs, don't read trashy articles about celebs unless there's a thread on Gransnet or I might have a personal interest.

Oreo Sun 19-Apr-26 11:51:21

She is disliked, any surprises there?

Oreo Sun 19-Apr-26 11:50:39

Meg is a grifter and Harry is a weak man who just follows her about.
This was a pseudo royal tour to make money.

My view is that M is trolled more than any other woman in the world and is disproportionate

How do you assess that? Have you done a lot of research?
