He’s a very naughty boy!

Sorry but laughing at Trump’s latest attempt at ‘divine intervention’ is the only option for me. 😂😂

As Jeremy Vine said this morning, ‘He’s gone full (party) balloon.’

Where are the men in white coats?

Wyllow3 Mon 13-Apr-26 22:34:52

They had a clip of him "apologising and saying he was a doctor" on the news: his voice sounded like a robot. He is so disturbed.

Well, it's been a while since I saw my GP, but a member of my extended family is a hospital doctor, but I haven't seen any doctor dressed like this. Is this a common outfit for medical practitioners in the USA?

He thinks he is The Light of the World with that sparkler in his hand.

I don’t remember anyone dressed like this in the famous US series ER. If Trump thinks doctors look like this I imagine he must be on some pretty strong drugs.

Blair had parliamentary approval Luckygirl.

He had parliamentary approval but according to Claire Short he didn’t have cabinet approval.
She claimed at the chilcott enquiry that decisions were made by a small number of the chosen few.

Its blasphemous and deeply insulting, how can anyone excuse this? He has insulted Pope Leo for speaking the truth. He shows no respect to anyone and imagines in his daft head he is above anyone. Surely the church in America will now condemn him.

I do find it incredible that more Republicans are not standing up to him. It's as if he has people captivated in some way.

Out of fear? It has the most awful echos of past dictators who ruled by fear and ended up committing the most appalling crimes.

This is exactly it. Trump and his cronies are a regime, ruling by fear, I mean if they have the FBI in their pocket just think of how much damage they could do to anyone who attempts to rock the boat. So much for ‘leaders of the free world’, not much freedom in the US right now as far as I can see.

imaround Mon 13-Apr-26 21:13:05

That should have said I am sure Vance...

I have no idea if that is the reason he is so quiet. It would be if I were him. I would hang my head on shame and ask the Pope for forgiveness, then repent for my sins and invoke the 25th.

Oh to have a conscious.

Vance is keeping a low profile because so many people are pointing out that he was not successful in any of his foreign relations trips ever recently.

Trump is nothing like Blair. Indeed Trump seems unique - dangerous and frankly crazy is the word that springs to mind

That image he posted showing himself as the messiah, then ridiculing news outlets saying they were ridiculous, anyone could see he was portraying himself as a doctor

Every day another unbelievable truth. Bond villain or wicked pantomime villain except it’s not in the least funny. It’s truly frightening

InRainbows Mon 13-Apr-26 21:01:58

He is an embarrassment. Will be a stain on history forever. What he has done to The Whitehouse is appalling.

Iam64 Mon 13-Apr-26 20:58:22

I second valdali’s comments about Blair. He did go and get parliamentary support, not something even a majority would approve if uncertain. I marched against the invasion, strongly opposed in the belief generations would pay for what we did.

Luckygirl3 Mon 13-Apr-26 20:52:59

I agree. That creeping sense of infallibility is what the checks and balances should be for. But sadly they sometimes fail.
In Trump's case they have been failing from day one. There seems to be some sort of collective insanity operating.

Trump is in a whole different league from Blair, but he did invade Iraq because he thought he was right ... and went against advice. And he turned out to be wrong.
That is why our political leaders need to be open to advice and evidence.
The succession of ayatollahs do what they do because they know they are right. It is not enough.
No political leader can be allowed to give free rein to what they believe to be right.
There must be checks and balances.

I reckon Trump attacked Iran because he wanted to & he thought it would make him look good with the MAGA crew - then because it was him who'd decided to do it, it must be right.

That's a lot different to someone knowledgeable & with their country's interests in mind being too sure that they've made the right decision because they've begun to feel infallible (Maggie Thatcher got like this towards the end too).

Luckygirl3 Mon 13-Apr-26 20:39:10

Clearly they are world's apart, but Blair blotted his copybook by falling back on doing something very serious because he thought it was right, flying in the face of advice.
This is a parallel with Trump. Clearly the total insanity is not a parallel.

AGAA4 Mon 13-Apr-26 20:15:20

I'm not a fan of Blair but he shouldn't be compared to Trump.
Trump is unique.

Deedaa Mon 13-Apr-26 20:12:33

Trump's suggestion that he is shown as a doctor is just as ludicrous as the Jesus option. I have never heard any stories of him healing anyone. Perhaps he is thinking of his miraculously unscarred ear.

Luckygirl3 Mon 13-Apr-26 20:11:59

Sorry... the above was a reply to smileless regarding Blair.

Luckygirl3 Mon 13-Apr-26 20:11:02

He got that because he had a majority. But he misled them as has been shown subsequently.
And he was very clear that he did what he did because he believed he was right ignoring the evidence.
I was pleased when Blair became PM and appreciate some of his policies, but he did get led astray when it came to Iraq. He was led astray by his own pride. I was hugely disappointed in him.

I will say it again - he's a despicable excuse for a human being. And yet he still dares to criticise anyone who disagrees with him. With a bit of luck, he'll get struck by lightning.

I wonder what JD Vance, a Catholic, has had to say about his comments regarding the Pope.

It must be assumed that this astonishing act of blasphemy is fully endorsed by Vance, otherwise why would he be silent?

You are not the only one Fallingstar. This world is not one I recognise or want my grandchildren to grow up into.

Fallingstar Mon 13-Apr-26 19:43:20

I could never have imagined in my most fantastical dreams a person like Trump.
He defies logic, reason, and any kind of sane analysis. And to think that he is the President of the US is stranger than hearing a cat talk. I often think that he can’t be real, that I must be in a drug addled state in which a President poses as Jesus and people worship him as they would a religious prophet.
I am a woman who has lost her compass and is wondering what world she now inhabits.
