Despite not being a Catholic, I am loving this Pope. I was biased to begin with because he is an American, but he is a beacon of goodness and right in a world that has just gone to poo because of Trump.

That is as nicely as I can say it as the other things I could say would likely get me banned.

I'd say he is a prize buffoon but he's much more dangerous than that.

The difficulty Trump has with the Pope, is that he (the pope) doesn't have an army (Swiss Guards excepted) much in the way of weapons and the territory of Vatican City is pretty small. tarriffs will not affect them, nor will oiland gas blockades. it doesn't have a navy either.

All the pope has to do is to do his job of leading the catholic church and speaking on morality, and just let Trump and his minions ramp up the personal abuse and ludicrous 'holy' pictures of Trump. I expect the next one will present him as Pope.

I note that the Pope, an American citizen, has decided not to go back to the US while Trump remains President. It is good to know that one country in the world has a head of state who is in his right mind and intelligent.

Attacking the Pope does not seem a winning strategy to me, but quite honestly I don’t think Trump cares.

Someone has been monitoring Trump’s night time activity on his truth social, both its content and time of activity.

It is becoming more clear by the day how ill he is when you look at this monitoring.

Do all those people just forget all the teaching and worship Trump, will the Catholics recognise Trumps views more highly than the Pope? I think not, this will most likely be his undoing as how can he wriggle out of this.

There is an interesting conundrum here. When I was a child many people in the Uk were suspicious of catholics, especially Irish catholics in the army - and the army always had lots of irish recruits, because, it was claimed, that they would always obey the Pope, even when his 'commands' ran counter to national policy.

Is that argument going to be revived in the USA?

I heard Trump’s spiritual advisor, a Baptist minister, on radio 5’s Mat Chorley show this afternoon. It was rather like a not very funny comedy show. The guest said the Pope should keep out of politics (obviously the party line’. Challenged by Mat Chorley about his politics/faith, he responded by comparing himself to Dr King, he could and would do politics and faith, an option not available to the pope
