MayBee70,

Reform, Farage and Tice should be able to take criticism and scrutiny in the same way they sling it out to other politicians they are competing against desperately to try to get elected to Government.

You're right, separate thread going, allegations of Tice underpaying over £100,000 tax feature across some newspapers today. Needs transparent investigations and facts published- Farage should insist on this if he wants Reform UK to develop credibility and trust. Pigs might fly?

“The Unite union, one of Labour's biggest donors, has held talks with Reform based on the possibility that it will win the election in Birmingham. “I've said in the past we'd been open to talking to trade unions,” Farage says. “I've generally received abuse … but in the case of the bin strikes in Birmingham we have genuinely had some constructive conversations”
I’m not going to read it properly. But what I have read is very upbeat and positive. However they have got an article about Tices tax dodging in today’s paper. I am happy to cut and paste that one!

Union backing?
Did they mean the Soviet Union?

MayBee70 Sat 18-Apr-26 23:20:52

I’ve just glanced at it ( didn’t really want to read it to be honest and won’t copy and paste it as it will give him even more publicity) and it says how Reform are even getting union backing and are going to do very well in the May elections. No mention of his racism or party members tax dealings.

Just checked out today’s Times online. Can anyone explain to me why there’s a large picture of Farage looking very nice guy’ish with a caption saying that people are telling him that they’re no longer going to vote Labour. Why are the news media so desperate to get people voting for Reform? Who’s behind it; who’s going to gain from it?? Why isn’t Tice on the front page with a story about his tax evasions? This is a politician who is actually in the Epstein files, who wanted us to join Trump in his latest war. What the hell is going on???

Who owns the Times?
The Murdoch family.
Do the Murdochs support Farage?

It's behind a paywall so I can't read anything.

You’re voting for a party the manifesto of which you have not read and you have no real idea of its policies, Meandrogrog? (Sorry, couldn’t quote you for some reason).

Blimey. Is that wise?

Well, its a good point! I suppose time will tell if Reform do ever form a government.

It will be interesting to see, just hope I get to live long enough!🤣

Golly, Graphite, I'm astonished to read that a young man can be a Holocaust denier.
I have spoken before about a neighbouring constituency where the elected Reform candidate was arrested soon after taking office, and, is, now, serving a significant sentence having been convicted of coercive control of his wife.
This does suggest that Reform's vetting process is perhaps not as robust as it is claiming to be,

Very much doubt that the male Reform leadership find coercive control a problem.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 16-Apr-26 13:38:28

Good grief, Graphite, exploiting a vulnerable man - how low can someone go?

Maremia Thu 16-Apr-26 10:53:06

Big 'poll' soon in Scotland.
Beginning of May.

Graphite Thu 16-Apr-26 10:40:03

When you think that Reform and its candidates can’t sink any lower, they do.

People may remember the fake “concerned neighbour” aka “granny letter” bulk mail outthat Reform used in the in Caerphilly and Gorton & Denton by-elections. It’s an old BNP tactic which they described as one of their most effective campaigning tools.

Karl Johnson, Reform UK’s candidate for Stanley & Outwood East, Wakefield, has gone a step further, not with a bulk mail out AFAIK but through social media. He is pretending that a vulnerable adult with learning difficulties is dissatisfied with Labour and will now be supporting Reform. I have attached the two social media posts, one from the duplicitous Johnson and the another from the brother of the man Johnson has used refuting the claim.

Using a vulnerable adult is this way is despicable.

Speaking of Neo-Nazis; two more appalling Reform candidates.

Anas Huggan (not his real name) is standing in Blakelaw and Cowgate in Newcastle. In 2024, he was an active member of neo-fascist group Britain First.

Dan Astley is standing in Benwell, Scotswood & Denton Burn, Newcastle. Recently, he was an active member of the far-right, white nationalist Homeland Party formed by former members of the neo-Nazi group Patriotic Alternative.

If we are to believe Zia Yusuf about Reform’s marvellous vetting procedures then we must assume they have discover their candidates' affiliations and are happy to have these people standing for them.

Polls are coming thick and fast showing that support for Reform is in sharp decline. Hopefully enough people are waking up to what they really are.

All those trees ....
Although it could be recycled from old election bumf.

Casdon Wed 15-Apr-26 20:47:32

I’m making a big pile, we are a marginal constituency so getting much more than our fair share from all the parties. I had four different ones this morning, the Post Office must be coining it.

Allira Wed 15-Apr-26 20:34:01

We have two of each!!

Casdon Wed 15-Apr-26 20:11:09

I would hope so!

Their election bumf is coming thick and fast through my door now. I’m annoyed that as the householder and named first on the electoral roll, my name does not appear first on their communications. My son lives with me, and everything is addressed to his name first. Grr.

😀

They have amended it now!

What they claim about the NHS in Wales might be true, though.
Anyone who has had to wait hours for an ambulance, even one called by a GP after a patient has has a suspected heart attack, who has had to sit in a chair (not even a trolley!) for days in a corridor waiting for tests for a suspected heart attack then days for surgery, might surely be tempted by promises of improvement?

Of course, they would be empty promises, especially if coupled with the promise of reduction in income tax, but if people are unhappy and desperate, they will head for any port in a storm if they think it holds promise.

Taylor runs a tanning salon in Jaywick so he’s in Farage’s constituency. The Mirror sent a journalist to ask him some questions.

www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/reform-activist-visited-farage-wrote-37012737

He claims he was drunk when he made the posts. As they were made over a series of months, he must be drunk a lot. Reform say they expelled him as he failed vetting. He says he has now left the party of his own accord. I doubt either is true.

Reform has selected Alan Robert Stay, an overt racist, as their candidate for Parkhurst and Hunnyhill, Isle of Wight, His socials are full of offensive posts including the N word. How did he pass vetting?

As a newish political party many of us are unsure about Reforms policies.

Well, here's the manifesto for Wales for starters
www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.reformparty.uk/welsh-manifesto-english.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwjSjI7bvvCTAxUuW0EAHYIMDtkQFnoECCYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2FNMnRkeALa6ODQ0h8i8cW

Please don't ask me what's in it.

Remember them standing on stage at the Manifesto launch, and the poster of the front cover they held up to the audience had two glaring typos in the Welsh translation. Oh dear.

No, I didn't see that launch. I'll take a look.

And, embarrassingly, I might not have noticed!!
My DGC can speak Welsh but mine is very limited.

I can say Llanfairpg in full, though.

Here we have prominent Reform activist Aaron Lee Taylor, Hitler fan and Holocaust denier, pictured recently with Farage, Jenrick and Yusuf. The latter claims that Reform has “the best vetting in the country”.

Be aware, there is some shocking content in the link:

hopenothate.org.uk/2026/04/14/new-hitler-was-right-says-star-reform-activist/

Extract:

His most recent post in support of Reform was on April 3rd, when he shared an Easter message from the party. We understand that he is now no longer a member of the party. What remains unclear is why Reform appealed to Taylor, an unabashed fan of Hitler.

It's a valid question.

This is indeed shocking.
For those wishing to vote Reform for whatever reason how do you countenance voting for a man with links to Holocaust deniers who support Hitler’s disgusting views.
I recall how disgusted people were when Corbyn shared a platform with Hamas, so where is your disgust now??

For very good reasons.

In your opinion.

Well please, take the floor. It's all yours. As a newish political party many of us are unsure about Reforms policies.

Drop a couple into the conversation to facilitate debate.

I have no real idea of their policies as I have not studied them closely. Even if I had, would it mean very much anyway? Labour said many things to get into power as do all parties, then renege on them anyway.

My main reason for voting Reform is that I very strongly do not wish to rejoin the EU. As Churchill said, always choose the sea and he was quite right.

I also wish to see all illegal immigrants returned to their countries of origin and .i am hoping Reform will be strong enough and have enough support to see this through.

We need strong leadership which
I feel will be supplied with Reform.

I personally like and admire NF, he comes across as intelligent, with a good sense of humour and very different from Keir Starmer who is an utter lawyer through and through whose only idea is to follow law when the UK needs a leader who is prepared to bend the rules when it would benefit the UK.
