There is hope and oil prices plunge it seems Trumps invasion attack plans are on hold if Iran opens Hormuz, we can hope.

An opinion shared by many doesn’t automatically make anything either true or correct.

It's an opinion shared by many Oreo.

An eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth from the Old Testament is to limit revenge. Taking two eyes for one 'makes the whole world blind'.

To say that Netanyahu's reprisals are disproportionate would be an understatement.

The saddest thing is that after this Jewish people will not be safe from terrorist attacks anywhere in the world.

Has it escaped your attention that they haven’t been safe for a long time?
Extremist Islamists have been attacking Jews in various countries well before this Iranian conflict kicked off. Iran and all the terrorist groups in the ME as well as around the world are committed to not only wiping out Israel but all Jews.

You miss my point.

Netanyahu doesn't care about his own people, he only cares about himself.

You forgot the IMO bit.

The October 7th slaughter explains Israel's fight to survive.

There is never going to be peace in Israel when terrorist groups backed by Iran, are committed to destroying Israel.
2 nations is not an answer because the Arabs and Iran want it all and the Jews driven out, with the current Iran war it may well escalate to an all out attack on Israel.

Israel wants it all too!

The US have told Netanyahu to.scale back the attacks as it's obvious while they carry on bombing no ceasefire can hold. They can't carry on with part of a war. There is a cease fire or not.
The US want an end to this war but Netanyahu would be happy to carry on bombing for years.

I think that echoes what I wrote before. Netanyahu (and some others in Israel) have a vested interest in maintaining a perpetual war. I doubt whether he can do that without American support.

And it isn't going to work because Israel wants it all.

I don't think so. Attempt to annihilate is nearer the mark.

fancythat Thu 09-Apr-26 15:28:24

Israel is always in a no win situation, it seems to me.

Smileless2012 Thu 09-Apr-26 15:26:13

No it doesn't easzybee, it's an excuse to commit genocide and war crimes.

Israel showed intention to "fight to survive" long before October 7th. What they've done since then has been disproportionate, if it was all about survival. It hasn't achieved security anyway.

You fail to understand the hatred against Israel and Jews generally Whitewavemark2 in the ME.
Talking does zilch to stop the attacks on them.

I’m afraid their treatment of the people of Gaza hasn’t exactly endeared them to many people. Israel is one of the most protected countries in the world.

It will take a very long time before Israel's reputation can be restored if ever twaddle, just as it will be for America.

Going by this forum only, did they have much of one anyway?
Has anything really much changed?

Just using this forum as an example.
But, unusually really, does this forum in fact mirror real life?

There was never a good reputation, nor a special relationship.

MaizieD Thu 09-Apr-26 12:42:34

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth

It hardly accords with hundreds (if not thousands) of Palestinians killed for each Israeli life lost, does it?

Elegran Thu 09-Apr-26 11:38:28

At risk of quoting some overworked proverbs, here are two:-

Two wrongs don't make a right.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth mean two blind nations crippled by endless retaliations.

Silvergirl Thu 09-Apr-26 09:25:15

Freya, you are wrong. I care greatly for all little children and vulnerable people who are suffering because of these nonsensical wars. All innocent lives are equal. Netanyahu appears to place no value on Palestinian lives. He treats them like vermin.

Maremia Thu 09-Apr-26 09:19:47

There should be elections in Israel this October.
After that, the world will know how much support Netanyahu still has.

Why can't anyone stop Netanyahu from murdering all these innocent children. There is nothing defensive about it. So unfair and disproportionate on every level. First Gaza, now Lebanon. Hope Trump turns off his tap of money.

Shame you're not concerned re the Israeli children palestinian hamas murdered after taking them hostage. They didn't have the privilege of living a life either.
Approx 2.1 million Arab Muslims live in Israel, with same rights as Jewish population, peacefully, some serving with IDF. Shame a few Palestinians can't do the same, live in peace. Just think who started this, yes palestinian hamas.
Remember the Bibas children, Mila Cohen.

You're wrong, Freya. Arab Muslims do not have the same rights as other Israelis since the new law about the death penalty.
