The King is interfering in the Democratic process in the USA

If the King visits the USA at the end of April this is surely interfering in America’s democracy. This visit will be seen as the King endorsing and approving Trumps behaviour and threats towards the UK.
I can not understand why this visit is going ahead. If it does it will shake my belief and support of the Monarchy.
What do you think?

The US of A will still be there when Trump is a paragraph on the third page of the newspaper lining the trash can. The King is visiting that America, not the one that Trump mistakenly thought he was making great again.

😂😂😂

Love it, Elegran!

That America is gone.

Where will the King and entourage stay when visiting the USA?

Not at The White House, surely although it was rumoured.
I would have thought at the British Ambassador's residence. At least it's not still Mandelson now.

I am sure Trump's sensibilities will potentially be more flattered (any attempts at persuasion) by reading the former purpose than the second (let's all keep our fingers crossed)....

Yesterday, I was disappointed to be informed that King Charles' visit to the US was for the purpose of improving UK relations with the US.

I had previously believed King Charles' visit was to be an attempt by this seasoned diplomat to make Trump a little less dangerous.

The King should keep visiting until the average Briton knows where Canada is.
Canada is situated just above that odd former colony sadly full of hillbillies, those peculiar Trad Wives, Proud Boys and the Ku Klux Klan.

None of that is certainly not mentioned in the tourist brochures.*

Pretty sure the average Brit knows very well where Canada is and that the only things it has in common with the USA is sharing a continent and a border.

I don't think we're going to get an explanation for that rather random observation!

I realise there are those who collectively hold less than flattering opinions about the average IQ of certain nations, but I didn't think GB was among those countries with a reputation for ignorance. grin

Not sure where LonnBestemor resides, but judging by the user name, she/he may have origins or ancestry in Norway, a country which, from my experience, is not known for having a 'downer' on GB!

... still - it's a pretty weird comment.

Indeed.

King Charles will diplomatically handle POTUS, return home, and life will be the same - until America has new leadership.

The king is a canny operator and I’m sure he can stand on his own two feet, whilst deferring anything questionable to the foreign secretary.
I don’t think he should go and pander to Trump’s ego, but just have to accept that it’s a case of respecting the post rather than the current incumbent.

very poor impression Starmer has created

Please, really how would you wish him to behave?

Yes, I’d like to know, too.

He has handled this situation extremely well. Yvette Cooper has stepped up, too.

You might have a long wait.

JoeyJo 😂. Philip would have been excellent at that. RIP

Shame Prince Philip isn't still with us. He'd say something inappropriately appropriate to that loony. Perhaps Charles could teach him some manners. Personally I wish it wasn't happening.

HM is told by his government when and where to go on state visits . I would love Charles to pull out

He is not their King, they don't want Kings. Americans don't either. They want Hyacinth candlelight suppers and afternoon teas, the English penchant for selling history and land, lots of land. Oh wait, maybe they are more alike.

Oh dear - you've been watching far, far too many Miss Marple TV adaptations haven't you?

You really should visit the UK, sometime, and see for yourself.

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 02-Apr-26 23:08:07

Well, imaround, it is difficult to feel sympathy for Ms Noem or Ms Bondi, but I wonder if they may have expected some loyalty from the man they supported so vigorously, despite all evidence against him.
He is a vengeful man, and looks for scapegoats when he suspects that things are not going well. These actions suggest that he is feeling a little less secure of late.

Charles Reigns, he does not rule. If Trump wants to be king taking Charles as his model he would just be a figurehead and the world might be a safer place. I doubt he sees it like that

Good idea.

A Parliamentary Republic with a ceremonial POTUS 😀

Hoping that’s not a euphemism there Mojack26 😲🤭 as it’s too horrible to contemplate.

😂😂😂

I hope the King will be taking a large tub of Maldon Sea Salt with him. He'll need it.

The King will be sent to massage Trump's huge ,gigantic ego!

No he will not.

He will go to celebrate American Independence.
Thank you, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston and the Continental Congress.
We will raise a cup of tea to you 🙂
