He seems certifiable - can you imagine if our own UK political leader behaved in this way? I think there would be turmoil in the streets, even allowing for those who 'don't do politics'. Are the American citizens unable to influence the politicians or have they been brainwashed? It's apparent to me that he has a psychological condition or two that clash with leadership.

It also depends on the willingness of those working under the president to stick their necks out and resist him. He has learnt (from experts like Putin or from the writings of Machiavelli or Stephen Miller) how to control people by a mixture of carrots, big sticks and blackmail, which can make it very hard for subordinates to rebel.

From what I have read and seen in recent days, trump is definitely demented or insane - whatever you want to call it. Nixon stood down for far less, and Clinton was impeached for lying about an affair. There are some very supid people backing trump and you have to ask 'why?'

Young soldiers fighting in a war that should never happen. There will be untold deaths and all for nothing. This will be another futile war undertaken by the USA, exactly like the other futile wars like Vietnam, Iraq etc.

The outcome will be families bereft, together with the assurance that those people who will suffer the sight of foreign soldiers on their land, killing and inflicting harm will hate the USA for decades to come.

Trump is sending those young men to their deaths. Iran are 'waiting for them'. Another mistake by the US. If husbands and sons are killed it won't go down own well in America. They need Trump out. He's a liability.

For goodness sake, why can’t Trump just keep his mouth shut for an hour or so and his fingers off social media.

These are his soldiers he’s putting into an untenable position and the rest of the western world he’s screwing over!

I don’t think many people in the administration know what is going on. Trump started this war with Netanyahu on a wing and a prayer imagining it would be another Venezuela. It isn’t. But I believe that due to increasing pressure at home Trump is now trying to come out of this conflict without looking like an idiot. Not easy. He has stated on his social media site that he has been negotiating with a better improved regime, or words to that effect. I very much doubt the regime has changed at all but Trump is saving face by making it sound as if he prompted the regime to change from super nasty to super cuddly.
But I don’t think extricating the US from this will be the victory he was aiming for.
And I doubt Netanyahu will retreat from ongoing conflicts and will continue to expect the US to support them.

I think the generals are reluctant to engage in Kharg Island. A lot of their people will be killed.
Trump's idea that Iran would be a pushover hasn't come to fruition. He underestimated the enemy. A serious mistake.
