This is a real worry. Of course there might be another president after Trump who isn’t so erratic and hostile to European allies/UK. But there are a couple of years left of this administration and a lot can go wrong in that time, also how long will it take to undo the damage he has done.
Raising taxes to put more into defence will not be popular but then neither is leaving our country without the wherewithal to stand its own ground if Russia is a threat. Certainly we need much closer ties with Europe possibly other countries that can supply cheaper arms for certain concessions.

We, in partnership with Europe, need to invest and continue to plan for the worst case scenarios.

I don’t know enough about the Navy and RAF but do have two friends with sons in the Army.

Both appear to be very well trained, have been sent to several secret locations when touring and seem to be prepared for the worst.

Well before that they defeated the Spanish Armada but these days they would probably have just hidden away and admitted defeat.

The Uk navy is the most depleted since 1642.

If the US decides to stop funding NATO, where does that leave the Uk and Europe?
Especially against a possible landgrab by Russia, in the Eastern Countries of Europe. At some, maybe not too distant point.

And this assumes that the US doesnt help Russia.

We could be left in a quite precarious position.

Hopefully and prayerfully, things wont get to the worst case scenarios.
