I think if there was some reasonableness in this whole subject then it wouldnt be such a problem.

If some people recognised that people coming here illigal is just that - illegal.

That doing something illegal matters. Not something to be brushed away.

That it is not reasonable for a Country to make itself considerably poorer, and to put up with a severe loss of services for those already here.

But there is no middle ground it seems.

I think that annoys people as much as anything else.

What about our long established Indian and Caribbean and Chinese ( and other) citizens who have worked and paid taxes all their lives and lived decent lives ?
A British Citizen is a British Citizen and all British Citizens should be treated equally.
It's OK to hold these opinions and they can be part of considered discussions unfortunately they tend to provoke extremism.

The actual words he used have been widely condemned as divisive, inflammatory and racist. Are you saying you agreed with the words he actually used, that he should not have been classed as 'racist" and if you used those words yourself people then be wrong to 'class' you of being racist?

Just my take on it, but when times are hard, people’s underlying beliefs, and views about what to do about the situation become more to the forefront I think. The world is going through a hard time at the moment, and it’s causing divisions to show much more clearly.

Well we're not putting up with terrorism acts here in the UK are we? They were not from the Middle East as far as I am aware. One I do know was originally from Tunisia and married a British woman from memory. These terrorists did in fact sign up to our laws- they were arrested and jailed for life before carrying out any attack- a testament to our wonderful UK security services. The privileges and rights of these terrorists were taken away from them before they carried out their crime, for plotting their crime and have been on remand in prison since arrest. They mostly likely will be deported back to their countries of origin in due course.

Terrorism happens in most countries around the world.

There are also no doubt UK born terrorists operating in other countries around the world who will also be subject to the laws of whatever country they are residing in at the time of criminal activity. Do you know the number or names of UK terrorists that have gone to other countries to commit terrorist acts- if so let the relevant security services know

No.It’s because we have different views and values. The people coming over on boats are just one manifestation of that, but there are countless others.

No matter which side of the 'discussion ' you favour, simple fact checking demolishes some of Ratcliffe's 'facts'.

Radcliffe made a conscious decision 9 years ago he didn't want to pay any UK taxes- with no concern whatsoever of the impact on the UK or society - driven by personal selfish reasons as though a fortune in the £billions was not enough for him to live a good lifestyle. 9 years since making his UK civic (not) decision Radcliffe has paid NO UK taxes yet secured £millions in UK state funding to support his business empire and personally enrich himself further. He decided to become an immigrant himself in tax haven Monaco. Such a hypocrite.

The ECHR procedure is this

Applications made to the ECHR are screened against the criteria for 'admissibility. Only admissible cases are sent for judgement.

In 2024 (the last year which had full figures) 478 applications from the UK were deemed to be admissible.

Out of these there was only ONE judgement against the UK.

So, while it is within the rights of any individual to apply to the ECHR their chances of succeeding in getting a judgement against the UK are minimal.

So many distortions of the reality of the ECHR are being fed to you.

But how many judgements have been made in British Courts under article 3 or 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights? The initials ECHR are applied to both the Court and the Convention, though they are completely different animals

I can't speak for every single one - but boy am I glad I changed my mind about staying in what was then multicultural Birmingham of the 1970s to "heading towards monoculture - not ours at that" in this century.
