Trump posts racist video of the Obamas

Just when you think he can't stoop any lower, this vile man has posted a video on his Truth Social portraying the Obamas as apes. He should be arrested for racial harassment but of course he'll just laugh it off and get away with it. Disgusting.

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 16:42:29

It’s possible to be concerned about both. That a racist, misogynistic homophobe should be in such a position of power is horrifying.
What you consider an idiotic meme is a demonstration to millions of black people around the world of just how dangerous he is and seemingly with impunity. It’s another very clear example of the measure of the man and must be taken seriously by everyone, not excused as some sort of trivial joke. It’s very far from that.

In any case it will be a nine day wonder like many things in the news around Trump.
There are many more important things to worry about.

Trump and his volatility threatens global security. Pretty important thing to consider.

Which is exactly what I said earlier in the thread! We should be worrying about what he will do on the global stage rather than idiotic animal memes about Democratic politicians.

It’s a known psychological happening on SM.
I don’t need anyone to agree with me.I just don’t rush to assume racism ….had the Obamas been depicted that way without being part of a medley of other characters being animals from films and a white Biden being a banana eating ape then I would agree with others. As it is, I don’t.
Not much else to say.

You know what they say, when you are in a hole, stop digging. Oreo, the majority are saying you are incorrect. They are providing arguments and evidence. You can choose not to accept that, but people aren't necessarily sheep. There are lots of bad things happening in the world. This is one them

AGAA4 Sat 07-Feb-26 16:29:06

Oreo I think most of us on here are capable of independent thought. To class other GNs as sheeple because they don't agree with you is insulting.

‘I try not to rush to be a sheeple where cries of racism or anything else is mentioned.’

I am happy to be a sheeple if racism is being called out for what it is. The more people who become outraged by this the better. If it was antisemitic or Islamophobic I would feel the same. Racism is racism and must be met with as many people calling it out as possible. There are no medals for being an outlier or apologist, that doesn’t show how brave a person is to go against the crowd in a matter like this. Quite the opposite.

Who wants a medal? What a curious comment.
I have noticed on many threads that people do sometimes become sheeple, as in wanting to fit in with the crowd.
I prefer to do my own thinking on any subject, and if it doesn’t fit with the crowd that bothers me not a jot.
Actually it’s always brave to go against a crowd and a possible pile on where forums are concerned.
It doesn’t make anyone right or wrong in this case it’s purely as an individual ( or crowd) sees it.

Yes, Basgetti and Steve Bannon has already worked out a way to do this.

Basgetti Sat 07-Feb-26 15:02:08

His latest ramblings that mid term elections aren’t needed are terrifying.

I imagine he just lost any black voters he had. Though why any would have voted for him completely escapes me.

Ditto the Latino demographic (his description, not mine). I imagine that ICE has put paid to any support that still existed there.

Obama is black , he identifies as black, his wife and children are black
Trump is a white suprematist. He no longer tries to hide it. Referring to the majority here who recognise racism under their noses as sheeple is a bit silly

I have no idea which he chooses to actually consider himself.
It’s a dilemma for all mixed race people isn’t it?
I have a Spanish friend who is much darker skinned than him.
He and his wife had privileged upbringings. If they had any sense they would just ignore silly animal memes, which am sure they did at the time.
There are lots of political jokes with politicians as animals, I think the cartoonist Peter Brookes did loads of them at one time.
Trump is an idiot but don’t worry about the small stuff, there’s plenty of big stuff to worry about.

Not a dilemma for the people I know. The Obamas might have had all sorts of privileges but the are also role models for other black people without their advantages.

theworriedwell Obamas might have had all sorts of privileges but the are also role models for other black people without their advantages.

It seems their privileges came through working hard, attending the very best schools. Obama was author of the Harvard Law Review, quite a clever scholar.

theworriedwell Sat 07-Feb-26 14:31:32

Just for Oreo Obama has said in interviews that he is black.

AGAA4 Sat 07-Feb-26 14:06:34

Well said doodledog.

Maremia Sat 07-Feb-26 13:45:46

It's White Supremacy again. Remember when you had to be a WASP to get ahead in USA politics?

AGAA4 Sat 07-Feb-26 13:39:53

Trump's ideal American is a rich, white man. He is racist. Amongst other things.
How can anyone have any respect for Trump after this.

Doodledog Sat 07-Feb-26 13:39:20

Well said, Fallingstar.

Who are the 'sheeple' here, Oreo? Is it behaving like a sheep to agree with others that racism is racism? And doesn't calling people who 'cry' racism 'sheeple' count as a personal attack against what I think is every other poster on this thread? You don't have to point a finger or name names to be personal. Attempting to cover one's back by pretending that personal comments more general just doesn't wash. Showing Biden as an ape does not detract from the racism any more than talking generally about 'sheeple' detracts from the fact that you are calling those who disagree with you names.

Fallingstar Sat 07-Feb-26 13:31:01

I just feel so sad for Obama and his wife and especially their children, I mean of course they have encountered racism before and know how racist Trump is but I doubt that stops it from hurting. And for the children to see their parents depicted like that, well, there are no words.

I think he’s blaming the staffer for putting it up ( not writing it)

Bea65 Sat 07-Feb-26 13:01:06

Its been taken down...now a "staffer" is blamed for writing this disgusting post...so Trump won't apologise...

Oreo Sat 07-Feb-26 12:59:07

How do I equate it? I don’t. The historical context (which I’m positive both the author of the video and Trump are well aware of) is completely different.

Can you actually not see that? Or are you just fighting your point? Because if you can’t, I’m actually slightly concerned for you.

I’m giving you the courtesy of showing my reasoning on this subject.
Any personal attacks won’t be tolerated by me.

That’s not on, regardless of what he thinks of former politicians.

I agree, he’s the President and shouldn’t be showing anything insulting about other politicians.
