How long can Starmer survive? Getting popcorn ready šŸæšŸæ

It seems not very long at all! What an absolute mess he has got himself into with this Mandelson business on top of all his U turns.

He now has to release everything he knows about Mandelson and Epstein. Kemi Badendoch absolutely roasted him yesterday and his Ministers could not look at him. As usual he looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

On top of all this, Angela Rayner (who still has not sorted out her tax ā€œmistakeā€) is waiting in the wings. 😱 She is loving all this and ready to stab him in the back and I bet he regrets supporting her and saying how wonderful she is when she was in trouble.

If Starmer has to step down over Mandelson does the King have to abdicate because he knew about Andrew? Does Farage have to stand down over his close association with Nathan Gill? Or his close ties to rapist Donald Trump or convicted felon Bannon? If we’re going to take scalps, let’s have consistency.

Of course not. Because the news media doesn’t have it in for Farage in the way they have it in for Starmer. And how weird that the only politician under threat from the Epstein files is the one who isn’t mentioned in it confused.

Fair point, Dressagediva23

With Trump in the White House we need a stable government so I hope Starmer gets through this. The shambolic leadership crises of the Tories was damaging to this country and we don't need another one. Farage is very quiet ATM, keeping his head down no doubt because of his behaviour at school, his closeness to Trump politics and potential fallout from the Epstein files. I'm beginning to wonder if he has "peaked" too soon??

Gordon Brown. A PM who got us through the financial crisis but, at the time, everyone thought was a bit dull, boring and talked in a monotonous way. And yet now, in retrospect, most people can see was a safe steady pair of hands at a time of crisis and is a thoroughly decent man. And yes, he did get some things wrong, but then so do most people. Similarities anyone?

Completely agree ...well said

Really good interview with Gordon Brown on "Today". I hope Starmer reaches out to him.

Have any of our GB News fans seen that viewer poll where 80 per cent felt that Starmer would survive this crisis?
Seems a very high number, believing that he will get through it.

Kemi is great at marketing, but then SHE does not have to get the country out of the bankruptcy that her party put us in. And make no mistake, that is where we are.

His performance so far is working, but he needs to take more time. Bit of a Tory type ploy I think. He will do the work needed, but he will be deeply unpopular, so they will let him carry on until just before the election, a bit like Maggie/John Major

Of course we are not!

Where is MaizieD to explain?

I don’t feel in the least bit sorry for him, he’s always been in the wrong job.

Oreo Fri 06-Feb-26 22:01:18

I think he will hang on until the May elections, which will be so dire that the party will ditch him.

Facebook, yes, I know, needs verification, but a post is showing a poll allegedly on GB News, asking will Starmer survive this crisis.
80 per cent of the voters said YES!
Will keep looking for other accounts of this.

What do they know? Just guesswork isn’t it.

My gut feeling is Starmer will soon be gone.

Angela Rayner ready to step in apparently. Can you imagine her in that position?

Why? Is she too common?

LemonJam Fri 06-Feb-26 18:54:12

Streeting not steering

LemonJam Fri 06-Feb-26 18:53:15

I also doubt KS will not go of his own accord. steering was PM’s mentee for goodness sake having suppers at his house. Angela Rayner had recent HMRC error of judgements of her own.

LemonJam Fri 06-Feb-26 18:49:27

There seems to be a big appetite for displacement of Epstein crimes and any adverse collusion of PM with Epstein onto KS. The media and political players plotting for KS’s downfall have many self interests and motives of their own to seek KS’s demise and I doubt the Epstein victims are at top of the list of their self interests and motives.

As ever KS is too much of an indignant Boy Scout and not good at political parry. When KS was asked at PMQ did you know PM had a relationship with Epstein after his earlier conviction he rightly answered yes but should have looked to his side, backwards and in front of him and said several times ā€œ but so did all of youā€. He should have said and been briefed to quote verbatim Nigel Farage’s statement to DM that he as leader of Reform also thought PM was a good appointment. He should have said all of you knew what I knew but not one of you public ally made statements against the appointment at the time.

Like or loathe Starmer, vote with wherever your allegiance takes you at the next GE- but Starmer is not mentioned once in the Epstein files and this displacement political theatrics benefits neither the country or the Labour Party.

Allalongagatha Fri 06-Feb-26 18:46:30

I am set to win Ā£1 if he is still in office at Easter. Nobody will want to inherit this mess and he definitely won’t go of his own accord.

eazybee Fri 06-Feb-26 18:38:48

Oh dear.

More sleaze.

LemonJam Fri 06-Feb-26 18:22:34

Quaking in his boots- why?

Breaking News - Mandelson’s two residences are being searched by Police right now.

Starmer must be quaking in his boots.

Why?
