Same here. Fellow panellists from other parties never get one over on him because he argues so well, remembers stats facts and figures and has so much political experience.

I'm wondering whether my old MP a few years back, Iain Duncan Smith (Woodford Green), will be next? As a former Conservative leader, he might not feel the need to throw his weight around in a different party. He actually serves his constituents quite well.

You already can pay for private procedures. Think it is £14,000 for a hip op.

Before you wish for a medical service you would pay for check out how many USA citizens go bankrupt back year because of medical bills.

GG13 I'm not completely against using the private sector but I'd be very much against using a system like they have in the US. Many European countries have a hybrid system and I'm open to making changes as long as the poorest and most vulnerable are cared for properly.

I am definitely against the USA system.

I just find it odd that a Labour Health Minister has been financed by private healthcare providers/companies.

The US has the most expensive system in the world and gets much poorer outcomes than pretty much every western country. 600K Americans are bankrupted by medical bills every year and two thirds of all personal bankruptcies are related to medical costs. The cost of providing oneself with medical insurance is a huge expense unless you are working for a company that provides you with cover. We do not want a system like this in the UK.

We have family in the US and there is a ceiling when it comes to health insurance so though insurance a person pays for will cover certain things but if you are unlucky enough to get cancer or a serious illness that requires repeated hospital procedures/treatment, you will hit a ceiling after which your insurance won’t cover it anymore. That happened with an aunt dying of bladder cancer, whose immediate family had to refinance their house and sell one of their cars in order to pay the bills.

As I stated already, Primrose - the phrase " Most people I know think..." is not necessarily statistically relevant.
Like you, I have conversations with a wide range of people throughout the week, and, my experiences are different from yours.
Neither of us is wrong, but it would be unwise to extrapolate from either your perspective, or mine.

Suella has a lot to answer for in her time in the Tory Party! Brexit caused the influx of boats and increased numbers crossing the channel so a big thank you to those who voted LEAVE!!
I asked my librarian, with whom I work , why she would vote Reform and she had no answer apart from following her parents’ views! A long time to go before a GE , anything could happen 🤞🤞

When voters vote in an MP they vote democratically for the party that MP is a member of. If the MP switches allegiance voters should have the right to call for a by-election , otherwise is undemocratic.
