Much as I dislike Trump I believe he might have enough influence to achieve this.

To many people in this world any old excuse to verbally or physically attack Jews will do.
Netanyahu's aim is to defeat Hamas and for now they are weakened.
Hamas stands for 'resistance and sacrifice' so each one killed becomes a martyr.
I believe that Hamas or a similar group of insurgents will reform over time putting Israel in danger again.
This will be Netanyahu's legacy.
I don’t know if occupying the remaining 25% of Gaza will help the situation or not that remains to be seen.
Presumably the rest of hamas is there, also the hostages.
The leaders of the IDF wanted to just circle the strongholds of the Hamas that are left and contain them.
Would this have been better than taking over all of Gaza? Less bloodshed perhaps
We've removed this as it quoted a now-deleted post.

Unfortunately, I suspect the real leaders of Hamas are not in Gaza, but living in a comfortable apartment somewhere else in the world, just as Netanyahu won't physically be leading his troops into Gaza.

You are undoubtedly correct, but don't correlate criticising Netanyahu with entrenched antisemitism. It's no different from blaming all Palestinians (or even all Muslims) for Hamas.
Claremont doesn't need to amend her comment. She is merely describing other people's attitudes. Of course, the people attacking Jews (as opposed to Netanyahu and his followers) are anti-semitic - there is no doubt about that - but not the people who comment on the situation
I agree with this comment.
I agree too LizzieDrip. These accusations of antisemitism where none exists are tiresome.
Antisemitism keeps coming up on these threads about Gaza and in all the posts, and I've read most, I haven't seen one that is antisemitic including Claremont's recent post.
However many times it is said there is no antisemitism on these threads, and I agree with that statement,
some posters continue to claim that there is.
Germany has stopped arms going to Israel. They don't want them used in the take over of Gaza. I wish others would do the same.

Is the claim of antisemitism made in order to shut down debate? In the hope that posters expressing revulsion at Netanyahu’s actions will stay quiet, in order to avoid the accusation of being antisemitic?
The thing is that revulsion at the actions of Netanyahu is not revulsion at the entirety of Jewish people.
No one on this forum, as far as I can see, has expressed prejudice against all Jews. Indeed, far from it; much empathy, sympathy and understanding towards Jewish people are often expressed on posts here.
Anger and disgust at the actions of Netanyahu and his inner circle - yes! Anger and disgust of all Jews - no!
The claim of antisemitism on GN posts just doesn’t stack up.
If a post was antisemitic, it should be reported to the moderators ASAP.
Claims of antisemitism have diverted the discussion from the plight of Gaza. That is the intention.
And now we are finding that the Islamic faith is being attacked on adjoining thread.
I think your first paragraph explains it all Lizzie.
For historical reasons Israeli government hasn’t been used to criticism up to now, but things have changed.

Yes of course they will be living in comfort somewhere. At least they are outside Gaza and will now have to remain there. They let their ‘lieutenants’ do their dirty work.

It was.

If what you say was true Claremont then every post about the war in Gaza would be deleted, but of course they aren’t as mainly they’re about BN and the Israeli government.
Reporting antisemitic comments doesn’t in the least stop the posts about Gaza and neither should it.
Jewish friends who are still in close contact with zionists in Israel and other parts of the world, say it is a very deliberate tactic to call out any criticism as antisemitic.
''So much of our media in in thrall to the Zionist lobby and its propaganda. They deliberately manufacture consent for the genocide. Truth is discounted. Ignorance is widespread. The Zionist-concocted campaign is a disgrace to anyone who is truly human and cares for the truth.
There is a campaign in the Western world by the Zionist lobby to assert that criticism of the Israeli Government’s genocide in Gaza is antisemitic. “Antisemitism” has become a cloak to hide the genocide, mass murder and displacement of Palestinian people.''

Why do so many people hate anyone Jewish? Had this when I started work after school & 65 years on it is still the same!
I don't think that is the case.
I have a friend that I didn't even know is Jewish until this all started and she tells people quite openly that she is Jewish now. Followed by putting up all sorts of info. re what the Israeli Government is doing to the Palestinians and telling everyone that she is personally supporting a Palestinian family that are still living in Palestine (the Gaza part of Palestine). Everyone agrees with her - no-one is against her for being Jewish.
Seems logical to me that any Jew anywhere wouldnt have a problem if they just turn round and do what my friend has - ie publicly condemn the Israeli Government and try their little bit to help the Palestinians.
I'm quite happy to give my friends contact details to any Jew who wishes to do their bit back against the Israeli Government - so they can add their voice against Netanyahu etc.
Thanks for the link Claremont. It’s an interesting read.
