Much as I dislike Trump I believe he might have enough influence to achieve this.
Between 50% and 60% of reservists are refusing to report for duty
What is the Israeli government doing to it’s own young people?
A very good question.
According to The Times of Israel there is now a problem with reservists not turning up for duty and an increased number of suicides amongst IDF soldiers.
This from an Israeli mother:
“Ima Era (Wide-Awake Mother), an organization of mothers of IDF soldiers, said in a statement carried by the Haaretz daily that “when soldiers repeatedly cry out that they can no longer continue, this is not a ‘disciplinary issue.’ It is a damning indictment of a system that has pushed its people to the edge of their endurance.”
What is the Israeli government doing to it’s own young people?
Good point Smileless.
If what we are hearing about some IDF soldiers refusing to fight is correct, perhaps that is because regardless of their views of what happened on October 7th 2023, they see no justification and/or reason for killing people for no reason.
I wonder what would happen if sufficient numbers of generals who are speaking against continued and further action refuse to lead, and their troops refuse to carry on.
They have been in service to their country and will have strong views on the atrocities committed on October 7th 2023 by Gazans who were helping hamas that day.
Any soldier may get PTSD after war or conflict but it doesn’t follow that all will.
Some of the IDF are only 18 year old conscripts. It's atrocious what they have been ordered to do. They will have to live with the nightmares.

Some IDF soldiers are now refusing to fight, saying they ‘are killing people for no reason’.
They clearly understand what’s going on … and want no part of it.
I think the soldiers will probs never recover from the atrocities they have taken part in, certainly many will get PTSD. Similarly to those who fought in the Vietnam war.

A cardiologist working for the NHS said his elderly father in Gaza has lost over 4 stone and is skin and bone. His young niece who has type 1 diabetes has no access to insulin.
Some are saying it would be better to be bombed than have this slow death.
So cruel.
Would be a serious stretch to assume all in Gaza are Hamas, would be equivalent with saying all in Israel are IDF.
Am afraid there isn’t much mileage to be had with that one Annie.

BBC news. Hamas is still paying it's civil servants but only a fraction of what they earned before. One man said it's not enough to feed his family.
Hamas had a large stockpile of money a few years ago but that is dwindling fast it seems.
Hamas is severely weakened now. The IDF no longer want to be there.
Why carry on with this war unless the
aim is to kill everybody in Gaza?
All in Gaza are Hamas ?

The leaders of the IDF have said there is no reason militarily to carry on in Gaza. Hamas is not a threat now Allira

Cannot be true, it has been said here that Netanyahu gave a large number of IDF time off on 7th October 2023 to enable
Hamas to attack Israel, the leaders were to lodge complaints when they retired

Many countries are now offering medical aid for the injured in their own hospitals.
My question is - those who are taken to another country to receive medical aid - when they are well enough return
Will the Israelis let them back in.
If I was a betting person my answer would be NO!
There has never been a right to return.
I feel such despair and outrage.
Was reading a piece this morning about how generals are now openly bickering about what is happening, reluctant to take things further when the aims of the conflict have been met and there will be less chance of freeing the hostages if a full scale occupation goes ahead, not to mention having to chivvy along a dispirited army.
Anyone can google this am not going to name sources because will just be told those sources are unreliable.

At present it looks very much as if Netanyahu intends to go ahead with a full occupation of Gaza.
There are some harrowing photos of people trying to flee from Gaza city, but they are clearly very, very thin and frail.
One dreadful picture of a man holding a tiny bloodied and filthy baby. Where to take the baby? Is there any medical facilities left, as I believe Israel seems to be concentrating on destroying them at present.
Meanwhile the Israel are still using people seeking food and water as target practice snd hundreds have been killed or injured over the past day.

Antisemitism is used as a weapon when no valid reason can be given for agreeing with the atrocities that are happening in Gaza.
Hamas were defeated months ago but the killing goes on.
Hamas were defeated months ago but the killing goes on.
Who has declared Hamas is totally defeated?
Antisemitism is alive and well everywhere.A student from Gaza that was studying at a French University has been sent back for expressing antisemitism online. If we allow students to come to University here from Gaza then they could well do the same.
Nobody has to ‘use’ antisemitism it just happens to be there.
Iam64 says that Jews in Manchester are wondering if they should move to Israel for safety reasons.Says a lot.

Using that as an excuse to shut down voices is in the long term counterproductive, because the world is waking up to that tactic.

You know when I posted the above from Michael Rosen, it suddenly occurred to me that all we ever hear are Israeli voices - their government etc.
Never anything from Palestinian representatives.
It must surely be time to address that imbalance?
I agree but the problem there is the very real backlash against any Palestinian voices being heard, even when they call for peace, am afraid there are strong lobbies that will prevent this. My daughter is a professor at a university and wanted a Palestinian academic to come and talk about the possibility of a two state solution, the academic was refused a platform in case it could be construed as antisemitic.
