A lady named Angela from Minnesota might be a distant cousin to King Charles says historian interviewed on Good Morning ITV1 today …there is evidence that Angela could be a granddaughter of Queen Victoria and John Brown….wonder when they’ll do a DNA Test/Analysis …

I think this sensationalism is an insult to the memory of Queen Victoria. As far as I know she was loyal to and grieving for Albert until the day she died.

@Allira - Anne Boleyn only had one child - Elizabeth I, who had no children, so how can this lady and you be descendants?

eazybee Wed 30-Jul-25 14:32:59

Anne Boleyn's sister Mary , has many descendants, including
Churchill, Nelson,Darwin, Antonia Fraser, P.G.Wodehouse, Diana Spencer, Catherine , Princess of Wales, Sarah Ferguson, The late Queen, Elizabeth the Queen Mother , the present Queen Camilla and others. Strangely. Meghan Markle does not appear, yet.
Richard 111 was identified through the DNA of a descendent of his sister, Anne of York. Duchess of Exeter.

Yes, that was after 'The baby in the warming pan scandal', 1688. Not for illegitimate babies though. Apparently the last time the Home Secretary attended a potential heir to the throne, was for the birth of Princess Alexandra in 1936.

Anniebach Wed 30-Jul-25 11:55:46

Until recently there has always been witnesses at births of
leading heads of the royal family , a PM, Archbishop etc

I don't think so, not something!!!!

Jaberwok Wed 30-Jul-25 11:48:06

Queen Victoria was 42 when Albert died, becoming close to John Brown after 1861. I doubt very much that she had a child as she was probably too old in that era, and it would have been impossible with all the servants milling around to keep that sort of secret. Elizabeth 1st was supposed to have had a child with Robert Dudley, again very difficult to keep from prying eyes. As for marriage! I don't think something!..Why would she have done that and risked the furore if it had been discovered?

Since investigating my dna four years ago I now have cousins all around the world. One first cousin, with whom I am now in regular touch, and hundreds of 4th/5th cousins, with whom I am not in touch! I'm still notified weekly of new cousins.
And years ago I was told that I'm a descendant of the Howard family of which Catherine Howard was one.
I'm particularly fascinated by the Queen Victoria/John Brown story. Could they really have had a child? I feel it in my bones that they were in love.

After finding out Danny Dyer is descended from Edward III, I am willing to believe anything.

Jaberwok Wed 30-Jul-25 10:50:14

Let's face it most of us are related to Charles 11nd! So in the unlikely event that this is true, who really cares?

Allira Wed 30-Jul-25 10:49:14

😁

Of course, my royal connections might trump your Royal connections! 👸

Are there any Americans who don't claim to be distantly descended from a British monarch?

Lathyrus3 Wed 30-Jul-25 10:35:33

Well I think I’m descended from Boudicca.

I’ve always felt this strange desire to kick the hell out of Roman ruins………….

Allira Wed 30-Jul-25 10:23:52

Although does me being descended from Anne Boleyn trump that?
😁

Surely we are likely to all be related to each other.. distantly

I have searched for years hoping I was related to Owain
Glyndwr,
I know two women who claim to be Welsh princesses!
Strangely, although they do not know each other and live on different continents, they do look alike 👸👸

Huh, i was born in Wales, only lived in Wales, ancestors from Wales, me thinks I am 👑

Nell82 Wed 30-Jul-25 09:59:14

Oh well, I suppose it is the silly season.

vintage1950 Wed 30-Jul-25 09:54:18

It's so surprising that famous women who are constantly in the public eye manage to have babies without anybody noticing at the time.

Allira Wed 30-Jul-25 09:54:14

According to an American on a genealogy site, she and I are descended from Anne Boleyn, along with a lot of others (mainly American)!

Usedtobeblonde Wed 30-Jul-25 09:47:25

She can make friends with Australian who is the son of Charles and Camilla when they were teenagers.

Lathyrus3 Wed 30-Jul-25 09:44:40

descendant

Honestly autocorrect!

Lathyrus3 Wed 30-Jul-25 09:44:13

Of course there is that Canadian who is the defendant of Richard III,

Sometimes it’s true😬
