My experience of living and working in a town with a large population of people with Muslim faith and Pakistani heritage hasn’t led me to share your disdain
My experience did not involve child brides
Oh come on ….. young girls have been pulled out of school in this country for years and years and a relative has taken them overseas for what they were told was a holiday and they are married off to some old bloke.
This has fairly recently been banned I believe but you must have been living in a cave not to know that. There have been countless radio and TV progs about it, teachers and social workers know about it (but too late to do anything). There are even posters up in ladies toilets at airports about forced marriages.
I agree, it’s been an issue for years and years, maybe getting better or may not, most cases don’t make the headlines so hard to know.Terrible situation for those girls.
I wonder why a few posters can’t recognise that culture still plays a big part in all sorts of things, particularly for those who originate in country locations in Pakistan who then settle here.
