”After what happened in Southport I’m wary, it’s not wise to accept social media posts as true. If that is where it came from, I don’t think we should be repeating it until it’s officially confirmed”
Absolutely agree Casdon, which is why I asked the question of a previous poster.
I’m not on any other SM platforms so am not aware of what’s doing the rounds - and don’t want to be.
I’d be very shocked if photographs of the alleged perpetrator have been posted on SM.
We should let justice take its course.

Truly shocking - Boy, 15, dies after stabbing this lunchtime at a school in Sheffield.
(140 Posts)All Saints Catholic high school. A 14 year old boy stabbed the 15 year old at the school gates. Two truly devastated families. One boy dead, not coming home from school with his mates at 4pm now and I imagine the 14 year old lad terrified, sobbing his eyes out in a police station, as the enormity of his red mist action hammers home to him. Arrested on suspicion of murder.
Parents and pupils of the school have put his picture up on social media platforms”
If this is true it could severely prejudice the trial. His lawyers would have a hey day

What, they have posted pictures of the stabber? Surely not
Unfortunately yes.
There is allegedly a video of the stabbing, I haven’t looked for it nor have any intention of doing so.
Pupils with smart phones I assume are sharing what images they have, only takes one to go rogue and upload to social media.
What have we become😢

I know it really is soul destroying, rather like a dystopian nightmare.
It truly is GrannyGravy.
Where mobile phones are concerned, they are banned in France in school up to age 16 (?) I think.
The general idea, Macron said, is that by "pausing" an adolescent's usage of a mobile during the day, they are somehow less dependent on it, or less obsessed with it generally.
I agree, both families suffered a huge loss. I think our young people are scared. They think a knife will protect them. What a sad state of affairs for our bright young people.
At my boy's school, if they were seen with a phone, it was confiscated until the end of the day, when a parent had to go and collect it.
The point is that families can have quite tight work schedules, and not finish until late.

Isn’t it worth it to save lives rafichagran?
Of course I want to save lives, but a whole group of people should not be discriminated against to do this. I don't see how you can justify the upset of these kids.
Awe upset, what a shame. All people are subject to stop and search, not age restricted, if the officer suspects they may be carrying a hidden weapon.
If it saves lives what is the problem, have you ever been subject to a search at the airport, believe me it is not pleasant. It is necessary. To save lives.
Barleyfields you stated black and brown are not the only ones stopped, but they are the majority, my partner has witnessed this. Until this stops I will not support stop and search.
I am desperatly sorry for this child's parents, I have a year 7 just 12 year old Grandson myself.
Freya it's more than upset as you sarcastically put it, these black youngsters feel harassed, there are examples of this, one was quite shocking, and as my partner said "Those who feels it knows it" I agree with BAME on this.
I am no bleeding heart, if anyone is caught with a knife of any age they should feel the full force of the law, but I just don't agree with stop and search fur the reasons I have stated.
Parents have to take some of the responsibility rather than leaving it to other people, which is what they'd rather do. Parents need to educate their children, beginning at a young age rather than leave it to someone else. Schools should educate children at a young age. Knives are easy to buy online which doesn't help. It could be worse, it could be gun crime such as they have in the US.
At present the police have to have ‘reasonable suspicion’ in order to stop and search rafichagran. I fear you are biased. White kids are stopped too but that gets little publicity. Maybe if kids of all colours didn’t hang around aimlessly, hoods and sometimes balaclavas concealing their identities, they wouldn’t be stopped so frequently.

My blue eyed blond son was stopped and searched on more than one occasion.

No one is saying blond blue eyed boys don't get stopped, they are saying the number of black and brown kids getting stopped is disproportionate. I think for some officers being black or brown is suspicion enough.
They’re going to ban Zombie knives . How will that solve the problem ? A kitchen knife will do the same job. Maybe harsh penalties for the parents of the perpetrators will make a difference. I’m sure my grandchildren wouldn’t be able to have weapons amongst their belongings. Their parents are too savvy . I know I couldn’t have got anything like that past my mum and Dad. I think that a lot of parents these days are too wrapped up in their own ‘issues’ to take any note of what their children are doing. A hefty fine for them being found out and about carrying a weapon would stir them into taking some sort of responsibility. Also, more Stop and Search .

Lack of sanctions, lack of punishment; endless excuses and blaming everyone other than the perpetrator.
Complete lack of respect for authority.
Children unsupervised during covid, when most adults were off work or working from home?
I’m always amused when people assume that because they live in a naice ( majority white ) town that they are somehow a million miles away from drugs.
These places are a Mecca for those dealing the white stuff.
Zombie knives are already banned tictacnana. That doesn’t mean they aren’t circulating. They look a lot more dangerous than kitchen knives to me, they are designed to kill.
Yes, it's usually the nice areas where the coke dealers operate.
I know one who lives in a converted barn, with a little lake, in a beautiful area.
His wife is an nhs manager, and they both drive nice cars, and privately educate their children.

Or the nice middleclass villages where teenagers suddenly develop a love for ice cream from the icecream man in his van, when there's probably plenty at home in the freezer. I don't think it was coke but whatever it was certainly brought a new meaning to vanilla with a flake.
Stop and search all the way for me.
I don’t give a toss about hurt feelings/profiling.
Better than hurt or dead boys.

Can't say I'm surprised at that remark, these are black kids that are profiled and they are stopped and searched in a disproportionate way.
Well the good kids have nothing to worry about do they?
I’d rather stop 500 kids randomly, maybe find 5 zombie knives than have one more dead child. And dead children come in all colours.
