Oreo, I've just done a GN search on "communist" and "commie" and it comes up *loads of times. Not as much as fascist admittedly but quite frequently used to throw at Labour
.
Personally I think using both as "weapons" adds nothing to a discussion it is counter-productive.

Not such shocking news as the right-wing would have you believe
(99 Posts)Remember the so called “shocking news” from the right wing media about the level of immigrants in our towns and cities.
Guess what - all lies.
“The right-wing press got itself in hot water this week over a deeply misleading statistic that claimed one in twelve Londoners is an undocumented migrant. It was originally published in the Telegraph, but was uncritically re-printed and repeated across the entire media ecosystem from the Times, to the Mail to GBNews.
The claim, as many Londoners could immediately tell, is completely false. The study in question, commissioned by Thames Water, included immigrants with Indefinite Leave to Remain and tourists among the supposed irregular migrant population. Furthermore, it put that inflated figure into a deflated figure for the population of London of around seven million, instead of the nearly nine million it actually is. The resulting findings obviously have no credibility at all.
But the wild claim did what it was supposed to. You can see the purpose of it in the Telegraph’s very own sub-heading: ‘New research adds to fears over borders and increased pressure on public services’. You bet it does: exactly as it was intended to. As the IPSO complaints, corrections and withdrawals roll in, we know the number of people even clocking the corrections at all must be a tiny fraction of those reached by the original headlines.
Baseless scaremongering about undocumented migrants is a tactic copied directly from the Trump playbook by the British anti-migrant right. They are keen to promote a “mass deportations” agenda just like his. But deportations are no answer to the real problem of undocumented migrants in this country, and as usual the alternative, workable and humane solutions are not getting anything like the same airtime.”

Don’t allow them to push a Trump agenda.
Good oh
Will take your word for it Wyllow but in the last two years that I have been on here I haven’t noticed any posts about Communists.
Possibly it was used as a jibe more when Corbyn was around.
I have seen numerous references to far right and some to fascists on GN whilst I’ve been posting.
Whereas fascist is a jibe used just about daily. It’s lost its meaning, much like toxic and woke.
Well, hopefully the prolific thread starters on N&P can stop throwing around comments like ‘right wing extremists’ about people who happen to catch 15 minutes of GB news every other Tuesday.
I’d also like a separate board for all the Donald Trump threads & the ability to hide the entire board.
Why some UK posters talk about him so much is anyone’s guess?
I doubt a single American thinks twice about Keir Starmer.
Remember you’re just one voice Kandinsky. As long as people don’t call each other names, and act within Gransnet rules, they can start threads about anything they wish, whether you personally approve of them or not.
If you read the O/P there is no mention of "extremists" just "right wing".
Yes I have noticed posters on the right and left using the word but not frequently, it just generally closes down actual discussion.

You do start numerous threads on the N&P board - all with the similar ‘far right fascist’ theme.
I’m surprised you don’t get bored with it tbh.I bet quite a few get bored of it 🤭
Your prerogative and choice. Just ignore, scrawl past.
Personally I am so grateful and keenly interested in the very informative and detailed, backed up and well researched threads poste by WWm2. Makes such a refreshing and fascinating change from so many.

Because the UK is currently an insignificant power in world politics, with so little influence on others. Trump has the power to destabilise the whole world, unlike KS (whatever you think of him, good, bad or indifferent).
Some people on this board its true do overuse the word fascist
Correct. Thank you Wyllow3 for acknowledging that.

^this……..op starts numerous threads on the same subject ^
I’ve noticed that.
One or two people seem positively obsessed on variations of
" They come here and take our jobs"
I suppose it's moved onto " They come here and use the toilet" and " They've all got mobile phones"
bathsalts
And your point is……..
I think half my post got lost. In making the point about the legal immigrants,I wanted to make the point that the illegal immigranats that everyone gets so wound up about are actually a relatively small proportion of all immigrants.
If we are concerned about too many immigrants coming to this country, then what we need to reduce the number of legal immigrants coming here.
You will never completely stop illegal immigration, although it should be substantially reduced, but that will have an insignificant affect on net migration to this country. What we need to do is drastically reduce all immigration to this country.
We need some good old-fashioned economic planning aimed at getting enough home born people into the occupations and professions that are in demand so that we do not to fill vacancies in the NHS, care, IT, or any other posts by immigration.
Quite clear, I thought.
Allsorts
If they throw passports in the sea and come over illegally, we only see what the boats bring and that's enough, how does anyone know how many there are. They disappear. Places like London, Slough, Leicester and a few other uk cities have the highest ethnic rate.
I am not right wing, or support any party now. However can’t be for this Labour lot, they couldn't organise a children's party. Its a matter of getting the best out of a bad bunch Starmer is no leader and makes bad choices. I don't think he cares about the UK.
Really? So the fact that nothing was actually achieved in 14 years of Tory rule, and more illegal and legal migration took place, and ££££m given to Rwanda and France, isn’t relevant??

Goodness, that’s a bit dictatorial
I happen to enjoy WM2 posts, normally tempered and fair and often with evidence to back up her comments.
If you don’t like them, then don’t read them!

That it's tedious to see the same old stuff recycled over and over again. Without any thought or basic humanity.

Do gooders and snowflakes have nothing to do with Communism.Lots of things are thrown around like confetti on forums including far left and far right, but haven’t noticed much far left being used as much as far right which is said every day on the forum, in fact it seems to be obsessed with the far right and some think DM readers are all far right too.
I do wonder if they mean right wing and not far right at all.

Here are the figures. As close to verified as you can get.
migrationobservatory.ox.ac.uk/resources/commentaries/2024-a-year-in-uk-migration-issues/
These show that the vast majority of immigrants in this country are here legally, with visas.
Here are the figures on those illegal immigrants coming in on small boats. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53699511.
The vast majority of immigrants are here because employers, from the NHS and care industry, especially the NHS and care industry and other industries have gone out to other countries to poach the skilled people those poorer countries have traine.
Next time you come in contact with the NHS or care system. Count how many staff there would be if all those of immigrant stock were excluded.
If we have an immigrant problem, it comes, not from the illegal immigrants and asylum seekers (not necessarily one and the same thing) The real immigrant problem is that our economy has been so badly run, our education and forward planning so inadequate that we have not trained enough people to meet the needs of those already in this country.
Parties of all colours have found it easier to just iimport labour from abroad, whether doctors, or way back in Windrush days, bus drivers and conductors rather than pay the wage rates, or build the medical schools needed to provide us with the balanced economy we should have, so that we do not need so many immigrants to run it.
This! 👏👏👏

Oreo I’d simply call the mass of DM readers, like Telegraph, are right-wing. Some of them are far-right, most of them I would surmise are simply right wing
