The Guardian reports that Trump says all Palestinians should move out of Gaza

People wanting to stay in Palestine will want to be part of the rebuilding effort not removed while someone else shapes it.

It's being increasing suggested that Trump works by threatening extremes and bullying people to therefore accept lesser but still hostile schemes. But all rather obvious?

There would be no need to sit in rubble, if there were serious peace plans towards a two state solution with a complete withdrawal of occupying forces.

The surrounding Arab states are ready to fund a Palestinian state PROVIDING that Israel leaves Gaza and recognises it as a sovereign state.

However if Israel refuses to play ball, then they are doomed to permanent war, reliant on the USA to support and fund them with arms. Who on Earth would choose that future.

Only the war-mongers and fools.

So where does everyone live for all the years it will take to rebuild?

The report was propaganda nonsense, we have had migrants come to the UK in large numbers for many years more family members would join them if they could get visas.

How many do yearn for their homeland and actually return, VERY FEW because life here is so much better than the poverty they left behind.

Both here and in the US where there are many Palestinians living happily, and no, they don’t want to go back to Gaza.

A Palastinian and his wife live next door to my cousin, he spends his time between here and the west bank, and would go back like a shot if peace and stability came to the West Bank, and do I suspect would many others.

I recognise that Trump is first and foremost a business man and his sights are on taking over the Gaza Strip to make it a profitable piece of real estate, but this isn’t how foreign policy works, and he risks causing major ructions in the ME with decades long repercussions if he continues with this kind of baloney. And I know what people are saying about him just being a fool whom we shouldn’t listen to, but Netanyahu is listening, Putin is listening, and so are Arab populations who could rise up to overthrow their leaders/governments. He can do immeasurable damage.

In some ways it is a pity that people get hysterical about the idiot's statements and give them publicity. On the other hand, watching him making these absurd proposals shows the world how she has no interest in the truth. For example, he said (yesterday?) that everyone loves his proposal, which we all know is complete rubbish.

Perhaps he thinks people are gullible enough to believe everything he says just because he has said said it.

I don’t think anybody said it was. It is simply symbolic of the defiance of a whole people who now face being ‘cleared out’.

Very ambiguous statement from Katz this morning:

Trump hysteria will need to calm down before there can be any attempt to discuss a future for Gaza

I think a lot of what DT says is just rhetoric tbh but this has brought to the fore what will happen to all the people in Gaza when it reaches a point where the buildings can be cleared and flattened and new towns rebuilt.It’s going to take a very long time to do.Children need to go to school, businesses rebuilt and hospitals as well as shops, banks and houses.Camping out is a temporary measure .

Yeah - the idiot can't see that that only he and Netanyahu are in favour of his proposal.

I don't think any other countries support it, and I doubt if the majority of Gazans and Israelis would support it either.

The admission that it was unlikely that the idiot would put US army boots on the ground in Gaza shows just how fanciful the proposal is.

Of course Trumps plans will not work but Netanyahu and his far right cronies now know that they can clear Gaza of Palestinians with his blessing.

The really shocking/sad outcome of the idiot’s announcement is not that it will ever come to fruition, but that he has at one stroke lost so much goodwill for the USA’s endeavours in the Middle East - particularly from the Arab states.

Netanyahu's speech did not address any details at all, it was a general and definite commitment to working with the USA, who outlined specific plans during their joint press conference. He expressed no objections to the bit where Palestine gets "cleared out".

We'll have to wait and see how the news is received in Israel.

Oh my. This sounds so bad for Gazans, am not sure how it will be received in Israel but my real worry is how it will be received in Gaza and how that could affect a fragile ceasefire.

I see today that Trump 's original proposal is being watered down by suggesting that the Palestinians move out "temporarily" while their land is cleared prior to reconstruction.

I think more and more that Trump just likes attention and to provoke people. I read that it is estimated that clearance and reconstruction could take up to 21 years, so quite long for "temporary", but long enough to have an impact on the countries he suggests should make room for the Palestinians.

Perhaps I missed it but has he even explained how the clearance/demolitions and reconstruction will be paid for?

He is hoping for funding from other Arab states and un etc.

I think a condition would be to send in a UN peacekeeping force.

As for Palestinians voting for Hamas, a quick search on google will reveal that Netanyahu pushed for Hamas to get in, so that he could split Gaza from the West Bank.
