Exactly, as the graphics taken from the ONS show. Muhammad is far outnumbered by combined Noah, Oliver, George, Leo etc. There is no other Arabic boy's name in the top 13, no Ali, Amir, Hamza etc. There isn't one Arabic name among the top 16 girls' names

Shocking news this morning. On the tv and in the papers.
(472 Posts)Apparently there are over one million migrants living here in the UK who have no right to be here.
600,000 of them are living in London. Just think about that huge number for a moment.
It equates to TEN football stadiums full to capacity in our capital city.
No wonder we’re broke. It’s dispiriting. Our borders are so leaky it’s not worth pretending any more that we have them.
What do you think about this newly released information?
I wonder why Italian or Spanish boys'names such as Luca, Rio, Rocco, Leo, Nico became popular a few years ago? Many of the boys in DGD' school seem to have these names.

Does it mean that we should be genuinely dismayed at being ‘flooded’ by Spaniards who are using our over-stretched services?
Probably not, but maybe the ‘facts’ speak for themselves?

The kicking is a more or less constant attack from the same old same old on displaced people.
It must provide some sort of entertainment or feeling of belonging to the herd I suppose. No one wants to attack displaced people, but I would be genuinely interested to know how you feel about thousands of irregular migrants flooding into the country, in your opinion should the UK just keep on accepting unlimited numbers, what haplens to already stretched services, schools, etc.I read that the most popular boys name in this country is now Mohammed. Are you genuinely unconcerned about how Muslim countries treat women and how easily it could happen here? I am not being at all confrontational, just really interested in your thoughts about the future of the UK if the irregular migrants keep on coming.
Bev.Sec, you may not have intended to be confrontational but I found the suggestion that white British people are somehow being disenfranchised by Muslim people with little right to settle here to be a distortion of what I see around me.
My town has a large community of people from largely Pakistani Muslim heritage. The issue of the name Mohamed has been addressed already. On The issue of the treatment of Muslim women, what I see in supermarkets, the town centre etc and increasingly on country walks, is people whose dress may indicate their faith but their interactions are like all the other mixed groups walking.
Football, probably.
Of 2023, ONS says:
New entries to the top 100 baby names include Hazel, Lilah, Autumn, Nevaeh and Raya for girls, as well as Jax, Enzo and Bodhi for boys.
Pop culture continues to influence the popularity of baby names including music artists such as Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey, celebrity baby names from the Kardashian-Jenner family such as Reign and Saint, and film stars such as Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy.
Twas ever such. Look at FreeBMD and type in the first name Baden. See how many boys were named for him after the Siege of Mafeking.

Italians! I was just pondering on the fact when the list of names came up.
Football, probably.
Thanks, SilverBrook
Duh, I should have thought of that!
It's not as if we live in a very cosmopolitan area.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.
I’m not aware of ANYONE not wanting a fair and controlled immigration and asylum policy and a quick deportation for those not meeting the criteria.
I worked with many Muslims, both as colleagues and clients. My last Leto line managers were Muslim one male and the other female.
In my experience Muslims are generally peaceful, hard working, family loving, genuine and generous people.
Please don’t tar everyone with the same brush.
There are good and bad people in all societies, faiths, nationalities and colour.
Ooops “my last two line managers”

I dont doubt what you are saying, and I fully agree with you. This is different from the small boats invasion.
Hence the Christian evangelist in London 2 days ago, peacefully holding up a sign which said “Yes to Muslims. No to Islam”.
Actually he was arrested.
“Causing a disturbance under Section 5 rules (which no longer apply but the Police either don’t know or disregard.
He was kept under caution at the Police Station waiting 13 hours in total as a duty solicitor was hard tracking down for him.
The CPS were contacted and the Police told to release him.
We have to be very careful Free Speech (peaceful, quiet) is not eroded in this country. I think it’s quite scary for some.
And yet the demonstrators in London every weekend in support of Gaza go unchecked? Very strange.
Perhaps they too were holding a peaceful demonstration which did not contravene any regulations?
Doesn’t matter if she does. The seed has been sewn into people’s minds. Job done.
We all know that the country that most of us grew up in has changed and is changing due to large numbers of immigrants arriving by legal or illegal means. We are becoming accepting of other cultures and faiths. Some people are happy about it. Others deny it is happening. Many people don’t like it. Personally I don’t like the way this country is going and the pressures on our already overstretched services. I am fed up with hearing how this country has always welcomed people who want to come here for various reasons. We can’t keep doing it. We are too small.

If those immigrants who are here legally working all suddenly left, our overstretched services would become more overstretched than ever.
But Skydancer we rely on legal immigrants for our overstretched services to actually keep going. (like it or not!)

I think the seed was there and the post just added some fertilizer ( muck)

Information: there are not demonstrations/Gaza every weekend. The last one was a few weeks ago, and the next one is due in April. They are policed and public order arrests were made as needed.

Weren’t there 70 arrests at a march held recently?

As our population ages does that mean we need more and more immigrants? If so, this country will be totally unrecognisable in, say, 100 years from now. It is not changing gradually but is changing rapidly already. Are you okay with that?
About 40% of immigrants to the UK are students, who pay over three times as much for fees as UK students do. They subsidise UK students - without them, the higher education sector in the UK would collapse. Not only do they pay fees, but they also pay a £776 levy per year for the NHS and pay for their accommodation and living expenses with foreign currency. As most of them are fit and healthy when they come to study, they rarely use the NHS. Most of them then return to their country of origin. I'm OK with that.

But, illegal immigrants are a small proportion of all immigrants. The vast majority are here absolutely legally.
The majority of muslim immigrants are legal immigrants, so again the whole basis of your argument fails.
And you seem to forget that you do not have to be a man to be a muslim. Roughly half of all muslms are female and while the men in some muslim groups may want to treat women according to the custom of their home country, muslim women are rapidly insisting that they have the same rights at home and in their working lives as other women in our society and are using British law and British courts to ensure they get it.

Yes, the one I mentioned a few weeks ago.
Police doing their job.

Mostly peaceful but a group decided they wanted to go where it hadn't been permitted.

I dont think it does fail. Just reading today that Sweden used to be a safe society, but now there are attacks and rapes of women increasing, apparently mostly carried out by immigrants.
