Good. I should think so too - no matter what his duplicitous solicitor tried to tell us on a televised appearance!
Sentencing mid January.

Calm down and watch the relevant video.

In that case you get what has just happened…that the jury decided it’s quite ok to attack police, even policewomen if you don’t agree with why they are attempting to arrest you.And any amount of violence against police is ok too.
The country has to throw the book at any violence against the police and some years ago that’s what would have happened.
You just didn’t get juries who agreed to turn a blind eye to that sort of charge, and it’s on film too.But now we do it’s time to allow judges to decide a case themselves, and magistrates for some offences.Either that or draw the juries from further away in the country geographically.

The one who punched the policewomen was found guilty and is about to be sentenced.

This, in the Manchester area will ensure Reform UK win that by election next month in Makerfield. I’d put money on it.

Don't forget that the jury almost certainly lived in Greater Manchester and are voters.

Apologies! It was Liverpool Crown Court, not Manchester.

I would have trial after trial until the jury had watched every moment of the violence of those men and had been told by the judge that they cannot go against evidence because they don’t like the police or they share the same religion or culture of those thugs.Otherwise they will be in contempt of court.

Were you a fly on the wall in the jury room? You have no idea why the jury decided as it did and a judge certainly never has the right to make up the jury's mind for it.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 29-May-26 22:00:47

When out of four officers you are the last one standing any action necessary to control the situation including kicking the violent ones in the head is to me acceptable.

The defence solicitor is the same solicitor that is defending Nicola Sturgeon

But if useless information on a Friday night

How could these thugs who attacked the Police afford expensive representation??

No idea, but it was the jury who didn't convict. The people's decision. Sorry, but if you don't like the jury system, maybe you should vote for a party which wants to get rid of it. Unfortunately, juries are an integral part of democracy.

And obviously very diverse.

There is a full report here.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd0px74kznxo

note: "We are cognisant of the ongoing IOPC investigation into the conduct of our officers"
Ie, a police internal investigation is still going on.

After it had gone through the jury system twice, I think it's time to accept the verdict frankly, and it was a very complicated long series of events that led to the final events

There are videos in this report of the initial events.

How on earth can you attribute proper jury decisions to some kind of political machinations? I'm not disagreeing or agreeing with you, btw, as I haven't followed the fine details of the case, or the nature of the arguments incur, it would be good to see an account to understand more if you have one,

But the decision was made in the proper manner by our jury system not Burnham.

Exactly, Wyllow.

If anything, it is the jury system which needs examining ie judgment by the people.

Wyllow3 Fri 29-May-26 21:14:00

Not "incur", but "in court".

And then this government has the nerve to say there's no such thing as two tier justice/policing in this country - really ? 😡😡

The whole set up stinks.

But it was the jury which decided. It was the police who were the victims.

I live in Manchester and like many of my friends and neighbours we were shocked by this incident. That poor policewoman with a broken nose!

How can 2 juries not convict when the evidence on video etc is incontrovertible??

You don’t have to be a genius to figure that out 😉

The news today is extremely disturbing. Seeing that older brother walking away sneering and grinning makes me feel sick.
I can’t even put into words how disappointed I am.

petal53 Mon 23-Dec-24 09:08:55

I’m just glad that the right decision has finally been made and I hope these two vile men get a strong punishment for their disgusting behaviour.
