To be honest it’s because I just don't get it. This was democracy. Why can't they accept - like grown ups - that you don't always get what you want and that other people may not agree with your point of view? The majority voted for Trump.

The Guardian offers counselling to staff after ‘upsetting’ Trump election result!
(548 Posts)The Guardian is offering counselling to staff as it vowed to support its workforce after Donald Trump’s “upsetting” US election victory this week.
In an email to staff, The Guardian’s editor Katharine Viner said the election had “exposed alarming fault lines on many fronts” and urged journalists based in the UK to contact colleagues in the US “to offer your support”.
I’m glad I don’t give The Guardian any of my money if they waste it to coddle employees in this way!
It is not heartless to observe that counselling for those who dont like an election result may not be the best way forward.
I thought Bidens speech just now was good, bring down the temperature, not see each other just as adversaries.
And let's face it he has much more to be cross about than The Guardian.

It’s because of people winning votes by telling blatant lies that people believe,
MayBee70 unfortunately in the 21st century nearly all politicians tell us what they think we want to hear in order to get elected.
It doesn’t make it right, but it is what happens, whatever country and every party.
Not one sided though Maybee eh? Politics is a dirty business as they say. Nobody is squeaky clean it would be naive to think so!
X posts GG13 😁

They are only having counselling. They're not doing anything to destroy democracy.
There are loads of threads on here complaining about the government and Keir Starmer. Do you think that people should just accept the fact that Labour and never complain.

Well, the people I know that are actively involved in politics aren’t like that so they must be naive too.

Yes, but are there many that, every single time they open their mouth a blatant lie comes out. So much so that it happens so often you forget a lot of them till something reminds you. Even his vice President to be wrote an autobiography that was totally fabricated. I mean, a recent one was Trumps comment about IVF. People eating cats and dogs. Cat litter in classrooms…etc etc

I don't think anyone expects their politician to be squeaky clean but we are talking about a sex offender!
The infantilisation of adults that goes on never ceases to amaze me.At least we can laugh at it😄
MayBee70 we have a MP in our extended family, we knew personally for nearly 40 years a MP who was murdered whilst in his Constituency Office.
There are probably many more on GN who know MP’s on a personal level and/or involved in politics.
The Party Rhetoric emanates from the top, empty manifesto promises…
Journalists are being threatened.
Trump has vowed to retaliate against journalists who report against him several times. Wake up.
If a newspaper wants to offer staff support, I have no problems with it, and I don't see what the fuss is all about.
It's not some peeve because "someone else has won". Its because Trump is threatening free speech.
"Even so, a new survey of hundreds of journalists who received safety training from the International Women's Media Foundation finds 36% say they have faced or been threatened with physical violence on the job — and they have felt especially threatened at Trump campaign rallies.
"Journalists reported feeling at high risk while covering Trump rallies and 'Stop the Steal' protests, especially when some Trump supporters and protestors openly carry weapons," the report states."

WellsRose A lot of people aren’t happy that Trump is back in the White House but he won the election, simple as that and millions of Americans are happy as they voted for him.
The Guardian has always been a bit of a limp lettuce of a newspaper and now it’s excelling itself by offering counselling.

How is offering counselling the infantalisation of adults ?
Oh dear poor things, they need to grow up and accept the result. No matter what, Trump at least stands for freedom and true democracy, unlike the woke lefties. It just goes to show how people have had enough of the biden admin and how standards have dropped since they have been in. Trump is for common sense and people of all denominations and nationalities voted for him, the Mormons and all the Amish people. It is an unprecedented brilliant result and we can only be better off for it in the West. This is proof he was the best to vote in.

So are people who moan on Gransnet about Keir Starmer limp lettuces also.?
There won’t be any more election rallies or threats of riots since DT won, so journalists won’t need to cover them.

Even though he's a convicted sec offender.
Since when is it wrong for an organisation to offer support, even if few want or need it?

No, they are not being offered counselling either. We just have to suck it up, however much we fear for our kids futures under these left wing socialists.
But they're not putting up with it? They're moaning like crazy.

People always have a moan when their preferred political party doesn’t win an election then go on to criticise their policies and performance and that’s fine if they don’t like them and find them wanting.
I didn’t say that posters on GN were limp lettuces but that I find The Guardian is.
We can all moan about DT winning but this thread is actually about The Guardian and their nonsense.
The Democrats would have absolutely gone after X if they had won. I am afraid they are also a threat to free speech. That is why we have to defend it in a non political way.
