They are for anyone - anyone who works in the morning and needs to be there before school starts.
People with meetings, or appointments, regular or occasional.

They are already used, and sweet sod all to do with people being able or unable to give their children breakfast!!

Not everyone has parents to look after their children.

The country is in a mess with NHS and public services starved of funds but no one wants to pay any more tax to help repair them.

Do you not think Labour supporters realised that the country was in a huge mess and that we would all be paying for it? Before the election lots of us on here said that we were willing to pay more taxes and be worse off to enable public services to be rebuilt and less people to be in poverty - and that is what is going to happen. I doubt you will find many Labour supporters who don’t agree that employees should be treated more fairly either?

escaped I think meal supervision at lunchtime is on a voluntary basis and is paid a token amount. I don’t see how teachers are able to supervise breakfast clubs as staff meetings are held from 8.30 am. Someone has to make the food too.

If it's teaching staff they'll be expecting to be paid quite a bit.
Will my 20% VAT hike on DGC's school fees be paying for this too?
I wish I could make my own personal money go this far.

They’ll still be around in 10 years, hopefully, and this country will be in a much better position. I’m just thankful that the last bunch have finally been outed after 14 years.

So was I - for about three months. Now I'm not so sure. Starmer has surrounded himself with hobby women and camp chaps all of whom have nepotistic tendencies and their snouts deep in the trough.

I am perfectly aware of Phillipson's educational achievements. She has an accent?

I sincerely hope she does repair crumbling schools and recruit, and retain more teachers.
The 'free' breakfast club is ridiculous; logistics, cost, place, time, universal, or carefully selected Labour constituencies? Will school staff be expected to man it as they are with school meals, to teach table manners? Will the money come from school capitation?

Free breakfast clubs are ridiculous - in your opinion! But at least we're discussing policies now. I agree absolutely that breakfast schools should be available to all pupils. I'm undecided whether they should be free to all.

I approve of them of course. They’re on my list of things for progress tracking, but I’m not sure how you suddenly diverted to that from your comments re MP’ appearance.

I wonder what people's opinions are of Bridget Phillipson's lowly background, her state school education and degree from Oxford (awarded despite apparently looking like a fox). Are people so horrified by her appearance that they don't even listen to what she says and does? As a former teacher, I'm quite positive about her plans for education (whether she succeeds is of course another matter), but, so far, she's demonstrated more understanding about what's actually going on in classrooms than most previous Education Secretaries.
