I saw an interview with Charlie Mullins and i found him impressive. He is a hard worker who built a very successful business, Pimlico Plumbers, from nothing; has made millions and paid millions in tax, a role model one would think. He is prudently removing himself from Britain before much more of his earned money is taken. He did say he was not prepared to tolerate Eric the plumber turning up next week as Marianne, with a string of preferred pronouns, for which I applaud him.

Dream on BigBopper, there isn’t going to be a vote of no confidence any time soon. Look at the way Labour MPs voted for the WFP.
Yes but we don’t know if they were voting or abstaining under the threat of having the whip withdrawn.
Ruling by threat as we know, is an historical way of making sure people do what you want.

Yes, rather dictatorial of Starmer, the hypocrite. There is a name for that sort of Governance.
Seven Labour MPs had the whip withdrawn, for six months, (child allowance cap in July 24.)and have to sit as independents because they voted against the way their masters told them to.
A bit more than dictatorial and an omen of things to come.

The way things are going many multi millionaires will leave the country due to high taxes.
I also read that if Labour keeps going on the way they are doing, there could be a vote of no confidence in Starmer and he could be called before the King who will ask him to stand down, the same as what happened to Truss. They say that the publics perception of him has never ever been as low as it is now because he has made it clear he hates pensioners.
Get him out, get him out.
Yes, get him out and soon before he causes any more damage!
I suspect he was planning on going anyway. Anyone who intends to move to retire to Spain or Dubai, has usually planned it. Both are popular retirement locations.
Charlie Mullins has never been a man who avoided publicity and this going with a bang rather than a whimper is very much his style.

Which high taxes are these, please? And how do you know what multi millionaires will do?

You 'also read'? Where did you read this? There could be a VONC if Labour keep going the way they're going (how is that, exactly?), and KS could be called before the King. Not very definite, is it? There could be a bank holiday declared in his honour, and the King could lead the Conga round Buckingham Palace in celebration.
Who says that the public's perception is low? Them? Who are they? Has there been a survey already? As for 'he hates pensioners' - is this because he is treating them the same as everyone else, rather than paying cash based on age rather than income?
Honestly, this is getting beyond a joke.
Agreed, M0nica.
Again this hate-I don’t think Starmer hates pensioners.

Of course he doesn't.
I seriously think some people have lost the plot, and Starmer isn’t one of them. He’s here to stay, and however much the right dislike him, they aren’t the majority of the electorate. He will push on regardless, with plenty of positive changes and a few which will affect us negatively. There won’t be anything as catastrophic fir the country as Brexit.
I didn’t know anything about CM before today. Some appear to like him whilst others dislike him. Par for the course on GN.
Richard Branson did exactly the same thing. So have many others. They pay their taxes whilst living and working in the UK and then they go abroad to live, somewhere where they will not be forced to pay the high taxes and IHT that is levied in Britain. It’s just as fair as British pensioners retiring to live in France or Spain and spending their income there instead of in the UK.
Exactly. I don't know why his accent and background have to be dragged into it.

Actually Charlie Mullins is a very interesting person. He started out from nothing and built an enormously successful plumbing business, employing thousands of people, and made himself extremely rich in the process.
Good for him.
He is an interesting character. Starting from nothing with no qualifications to becoming a multi millionaire takes some doing.
Think of all the plumbers he has trained up, then employed, all the tax he has paid, all the suppliers and small businesses he has supported and all the customers he has done a good job for.
I don’t blame him a bit for choosing to move abroad after 71 years.

Boris Johnson threw out pretty much all the decent MP’s in his party in one go.

Who is "they"? Silly comments about hating pensioners.
Haven't some Gransnetters moved overseas?
🤔
Agreed, HPQ.
Increasingly if feels as though there is a competition being run somewhere to see who can post the most ridiculous scaremongering nonsense and have people believe it.

Yes, that’s exactly how it feels on Gransnet at the moment.
As for CM, I’d never heard of him, but now that I have I wonder how on earth he got away with tweeting that someone should kill any individual, let alone the Mayor of London?
People with non dom status still contributed 9 billion to the UK government coffers.
If they all leave UK due to Labour proposed tax changes, the black hole will get bigger.
Those in London will leave sooner rather than later if Keir Starmer allow Ukraine to use British long range missiles into Russia.

Is I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue running a new round of the show?
Here are the contenders for the most speculative and unlikely outcomes of the election, with extra points available for mention of the expansion of an infinitely small and infinitely dense space-related phenomena.

Yes. It's all, "I heard that" or "I read that" with no reference given.
No credibility.
Maybe he's just fed up with the rotten weather.
I can't say I blame him, though the sun is back for a last hurrah.
The way things are going many multi millionaires will leave the country due to high taxes.
No they won't, exactly leave the country. Many live over several countries; London, New York, Switzerland, they will just spend a week or two less in the UK each year, a few more weeks in Switzerland/US/Dubai and thereby transfer their domicile for tax purposes to that country, so they will still contribute to the British economy through theie expenditure, just not pay any taxes here.
