Have to say this sounds like a non news story but it seems some are getting hot under the collar about it. Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with a young woman like Angela enjoying a holiday in Ibiza and dancing in a nightclub. She wasn't doing anything wrong.
I like the fact that Angela is from a working class background in the North, the same as me, it makes her far more in touch with those who feel that politicians recently are on another planet. She also has fire in her belly and God forbid a love of life. Reminds me of a young Barbara Castle.
Keep on dancing Ang, but keep your smartest moves for those opposite you in the HoC.

Just a bit more normal than losing your security detail while partying with Russian spies.
We live in a small market town in East Midlands very close to the North.
When my daughter went for an internship in London, she experienced a few snobbish comments because of her Northern accent.
People laughed at her when she used the word ‘cob’, someone mentioned ‘it must be grim up North’ and she overhead her boss saying that she was as thick as two planks of wood.
The irony is my husband is from London. Over time, my daughter has lost her Northern accent.
After saying that, I have no faith in Angela Rayner. I got this feeling that she is another politician who will line her own pocket (she claimed twice her salary as expenses in 2022) instead of someone who will champion for more employment opportunities for Northerners.
Only time will tell.
Ibiza - so not thought suitable for a politician
Didn’t the poor woman get similarly blasted for going to the opera at Glyndebourne ?
Can’t win can she ?🙄

For anyone looking down on AR for her perceived 'lack of education', just remember the disaster of a PM that was Boris Johnson, and the extremely elite education he was privileged to have.
Well said!
Also she cannot be so bad! She been an MP since 2015 and still voted in this time around.

She probably took cobs in her picnic basket.
Along with rag pudding and Eccles cakes.
I've got friends who are in their late 50s who go to Ibiza clubbing as a girls holiday . They like the music and dancing. It's not my cup of tea as I'm not keen on the music but it make s them happy so good luck to them

Yes, I thought about that too and clearly being very hungover at the airport looking as if he had slept in his clothes!

At least she can dance. The Tories are only peeved because T.May was so embarrassingly wooden and didn't Gove make himself look an idiot on the dance floor?
Boz maybe Theresa May needs to down loads of vodka to loosen up? Seems to work for some ….
Just leave the poor woman alone. She went on holiday, went to a disco, wore a red dress, had some vodka and danced. What is wrong with that or with some posters who seem to be determined to run the her down.
I love dancing, enjoy a glass of wine, think you should enjoy life while you can. I'm 86.
Agree ronib

Difference is Boris can hold an audience. Only time I saw AR do that was when she launched her disgusting tirade about the Conservatives where her cling-ons were beside themselves with glee. She was calling them “racist, misogynistic, filth, scum” etc etc.
Boris was on TV reciting lengthy extracts of The Iliad in ancient greek and the audience were spellbound. He wasn’t just reciting it parrot fashion but he understood and enjoyed it.

Allira, I bet AR was younger than your DD when she became a mother at 15 and grandmother by 37. Sorry I have never been a fan, she probably could throw the first punch like John Prescott and her language can be ripe too. As deputy PM I do not see her as being Statesmen/woman like on the foreign stage representing this country, my opinion.
Boris was one of the best P M , I thought he really cared about others.
Johnson was voted in as a Politician, not an entertainer. I wonder, was he regurgitating the Ancients during those lockdown parties?
I would love to see your evidence, BevSec, that Johnson 'really cared about others'.
Boris was an appalling P.M.He just wasn't up to the job, I don't know why you think he was good Bevsec.

Didn’t he believe that it was important that all schoolchildren should learn Latin?

Fiddling while Rome burns comes to mind. i.e. Dancing while Great Britain burns.
I thought they would be too busy sorting out the country's problems instead of going on holiday, they have only been in parliament for a few weeks and now get a holiday. Give me a break.
Absolutely! While the other gobby women (and men) in her party are ruining the country in just a few weeks she's living it up
Whatever happened to decorum? Or is that a non-u word?
MissAdventure
She's probably young at heart, just like a lot of gransnet members are keen to say about themselves.
😂😂😂
The problem is, the country is in the sh*t, and sink8ng deeper and the so called deputy pm, who also holds at least one other position, is off dancing her heart out when she should be, sorting out the country

How old fashioned. Decorum is boring, especially when you are on holiday.
