A lot of us on Gransnet are former professionals, but we also live in the modern world, rather than expecting current professionals to live up to the professional standards of the 1960s. Eloethan it’s not that AR has a working class background- it’s just that certain posters have very old fashioned ideas about the presentation of self in high public office. We can’t help having an expectation of professional behaviour in public office. What matters more though is how the country is run and at the moment, we are wondering how far down the line we go before the IMF takes over….

I think ‘certain posters’ is mainly you on this thread ronib. We all expect high standards of politicians, but being seen in a nightclub in Ibiza on a holiday, wearing a respectable outfit and not behaving in an inappropriate manner is not a culpable offence in the eyes of the vast majority.

MissAdventure school day for nursery and infants ends at 3.30pm. Definitely not 2pm.
I don’t think you need to research this - common sense and an understanding of young children will tell you it is not workable.

One comprehensive near here finishes at 2pm, our local one at 3pm.

It won't make any difference to childcare.

Parents working a 40 hour week will have to do 4 x 10 hour days and find childcare for even longer after school hours.
