Here the popular local LD candidate overturned a 22000 Tory majority, well done.
Nationally I’m surprised the increase in vote to Labour was so low, only a 1 or 2% swing. It’s the headbangers who voted Reform that sunk the Tory vote, it’s scary that the Tories are not hard line enough for them.
SNP who campaigned on an independant Scottish Nation totally rejected, so that settles that issue for a while.
Independence was only one of the issues SNP campaigned on, along with opposing spending cuts, increasing NHS funding, calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, and rejoining the EU.
At the last election they gained many votes from people who wanted Tories out, and SNP were the best alternative, so when the polls were all in Labour’s favour they could all return to them. I am disappointed in just how much of a massacre it was, but I didn’t really expect anything else, especially after their financial problems, which were well reported.
