Anybody else who doesn't know who to vote for?

I don’t quite understand why so many women here are saying I can’t trust Starmer and I’m scared about the mess Labour will make of the country. Or I don’t like Sunak and the Tories but have always voted for them. Of course a good healthy debate is what is what is needed and argue the case for your choice, but for God’s sake read beyond the Daily Mail headlines and bring on some well thought out reasons for your vote.

Why Reform?

Labour all the way - like the leader - feel he is in politics for right reasons- think Wes Streeting excellent for Health and understand they are not going to be able to do as much as wanted due to finances going to be left with. They need to get elected to do anything so they have to be careful not to alienate voters but not over promise So hard but I trust them more definitely .

I intend to vote for the party which I think will do more for ‘ordinary’ people who just want to have enough money to bring up their families comfortably, have somewhere decent to live and want their local area to be fairly financed. I wonder which party that is?

Probably wants them to clean them up. Well, they did say they’d have uniforms. Decontamination suits? Sunak said today he’d been giving the idea a lot of thought for a long time and I’m thinking 2/3 days ?

I'm interested to see posters saying things like 'I would never vote for so-and-so', following that statement with a link presumably to prove their point, inviting others to research. But statements using 'never' are based on emotion (because we cannot be sure what any party will be like in the future). If we are honest, most of us are going to make an emotional decision, because we cannot know the facts and can't believe anything anyone says in a manifesto. It's always possible to pick out one or two good things a government did, for instance during Covid, when most first world governments performed similarly. I have an emotional reaction to the Tories - I do not like people who are blatant, entitled liars, and, from their record, have presided over a time when conditions have become worse and worse for the most vulnerable in our society. Therefore I cannot possibly vote for them, and all that's left, effectively, is Labour. However, I am deeply uneasy about Keir Starmer. He seems to have a globalist agenda which could have some very unpleasant consequences for our civil liberties. These are very bad times and I fear for my children and grandchildren.

I suspect our civil liberties are safer with Starmer and Labour than Braverman and the rabid right wingers

I'll vote labour, not for any particular person or because I'm completely happy with their stance but because it's at least more caring and in touch with real people. It's the direction of travel so to speak, hopefully one that is less self serving and corrupt than the morally bankrupt shower we've had for the last too many years. They probably don't really know the destination yet and will have a real challenge to bring people together. I am sad they aren't saying more about the disaster of Brexit and the very real threat of climate change. Looks like a load of the senior Tory rats are deserting the sinking ship, not interested in serving their constituency voters as back benchers. I'll vote for the party which offers the possibility of hope for the least well off in society. Not voting at all would disrespect the men and women who have fought for the right to do so.

The only thing he cares about is himself. If he had the courage of his convictions he would stand for election. But no, he's scared of losing for an 8th time. Also, he's going to help Trump.

My local MP is that fantastically brilliant ex chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng. He doesn’t live in the borough unsurprisingly. The trouble with my area is that you could put a blue rosette on a dustbin and they’d vote for it. It’s so frustrating to live in an area that you know your vote won’t make a difference.

Same in my area, although the incumbent Tory MP was pretty good. But, he’s retiring.

The only chance here is to vote LD, on a tactical basis. Labour will never be elected.

There’s a 65% chance of Labour winning Kwarteng’s seat at the election. As Jwarteng is standing down it will be a fresh field of candidates.
