Follow the Polls

Similar here Casdon, mostly Labour, a few Lib Dem, one Plaid and zero Tory along my weekend walk - this seat will revert back to Labour next month.

I’m not so sure there is a hidden Tory vote out there this time. With only two weeks now until the election, and given many thousands have taken part in polls, which are representative when taken as a poll of polls it’s unlikely the result will be outside the margin of error. I travel around my area quite a bit, I look every day and I’ve still only seen one Tory placard, in a farmers field. I’ve seen literally hundreds of LibDem placards, so it looks like the farmers have turned. I think that’s where a lot of the undecided votes will go too.

However, I am intrigued about how and why the polls appear to be getting it so wrong Perhaps it’s the high number of ‘undecideds’ that’s confusing the figures.

Listening to RS and AC and they think that it is highly unlikely that the polls are correct and that there will be more votes for the Tories than is suggested by the polls.

That is exactly what I think.

I don’t mind in the least providing the Tories loose!

The polls are still much the same.

I accept Farage/Reform has some support but I feel more optimistic about the majority who reject his racist, confrontational divisive politics

WW I feel exactly the same! I just don’t believe the polls now, and so many undecided voters could change things completely.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Tories, via the right wing media, don’t pull something akin to Zinoviev out at the last minute. I feel as if they’re still not playing, what they see as, their trump card - saving it until the 11th hour.

It feels like a massive game of poker or chess🙈 Except it’s not a game and could lead to disaster for many in this country.

Someone suggested that the Tories might invoke another Zinoviev letter. I suppose it’s possible, but I think people have so much access to information now, that it would be very easy to disprove, and surely the Daily Mail has lost enough credibility as it is?

We are still reading hyperbolic headlines like “Tory distinction” Reuters , “Tory election wipeout? Bloomberg and so on.

I honestly don’t for one minute this is correct. What I am wondering about is the level of “don’t knows” - does anyone know how these are accounted for in the figures?

I am wondering if the figures are totally incorrect and in fact we will have another Tory government?

The way our system works, you are represented by the MP for your constituency, who has as much right to speak in the HoC as the MPs for Wigan and Ilford.

Heroic isnt my description of Farage and Tice who both deny there is such as thing as Climate Change and want to drop all Net Zero policies. (or any policies on same)
At least BJ took part in recognising it internationally and attempting to get agreements to save our planet.

Labour will win the next election. There are possibilities that something could go wrong, Starmer could decide to say he hates puppies and would like a mass extermination, but other than that they are going to win.

It isn’t true. It’s likely, but it’s by no means unprecedented for polls to be very inaccurate, or even for parties that look certain to win to lose.

Labour will win the next election. I am not keen on people trying to stop others saying things that are true. Farage may have all sorts of reasons for saying that, but I want people to be able to say that.

Farage is a disrupter. He enjoys the controversy that he causes. If he ever had to make a serious political decision of any importance, he’d sh** himself!

I also wish he’d stop with all this ‘Labour have already won the election’ which, for anyone taking any notice, could serve to suppress the Labour vote. He’s a mischief maker and a sh** stirrer!

There is nothing heroic about that grifter.

He is sitting as the centre of a company who is running for election to parliament, with no manifesto, but a contract which if you read it is in the realms of fantasy.

A couple of days ago he announced the intention of reducing tax by 40 billion.

Bang goes the NHS and all those suffering from pre-existing conditions (I am a cancer recoverer) will never get insurance. All acute treatment is carried out by the NHS, and is almost always referred to the NHS by the private sector.
