Interesting that accusations of indecent assault, harassment, using porn in the HoC, domestic abuse, drugs and rent boys etc seem to involve men

Candidates in any election like to present themselves as moral, family oriented, community servants. In reality a great many are self interested exploiters who will get away with whatever they can.
Having affairs, even paying for sex is not illegal, but it does expose their true character.

I think we all know that MP’s sleazy behaviour happens in every political party there is.
It needs rooting out from whichever direction it comes.

Harold Wilson had (I believe) a 20 year affair with his secretary and John Major had a dalliance with Edwina. The sort of thing the latest Tory batch have been up is not in any way comparable. It's not even on the same planet.

There have been god knows how many accusations of sexual assault/rape against Tory MPs this year alone and this latest one involves drugs, alcohol, rent boys, illegal immigration, blackmail and kidnap as well as misappropriation of party funds. The funds were to "pay off the bad guys" which is what Menzies yelled down the phone at 3am.

Another poster said they won't need to call a general election at this rate. I can honestly, say that having lived for many years in Italy it would raise eyebrows even there.

Annie you would know, is it true that Frances Stevenson was David Lloyd-George’s mistress for 30 yrs.

describing an affair that would cause his wife much pain by calling him a ‘Randy old sod’ somehow diminishes the betrayal. It’s bringing it into Carry on Westminster pantomime but yes, it’s feeling like that only much darker

Wilson, Kennedy, Major all had affairs when married. The Major and Wilson marriages continued as did the Kennedy despite Jacqueline being aware of his infidelity.

Call me old fashioned and judgemental but an extra marital affair is light years away from the high risk behaviour Wragg and Menzies have demonstrated. Menzies seems to have used constituency funds to pay men he got involved with willingly, who then tried to blackmail him. Is it too much to suggest using drugs, drinking to excess , getting yourself into compromising situations where anyone knows you’re open to blackmail - is unacceptable in an MP

Exactly Casdon. The issue is did this MP misappropriate constituency funds - not did he have affairs … gay or straight. Although his ‘associations’ do appear to have been ill-judged as they may have put him in a compromising position (if you know what I mean)! This seems to be yet another in a long line of Tory MPsmaking some very dubious life choices!

It’s not having an affair we’re talking about here though, is it? Consensual affairs with one other person of whatever sex are a different issue. That isn’t the case with Menzies, and certainly isn’t the case with Trump.
