I know there's not much to laugh about but there never was.

Perhaps medical science could resurrect Clement Attlee, Roy Jenkins and Denis Healey.

Rory Stewart?

Speaker: Ian Hislop.
PM: Greg David (love his ‘teacher style put downs’ - he’d be great at PMQs).
Chancellor of Exchequer: Martin Lewis (obviously - who else?).
Home Secretary: Carol Vorderman (intelligent, firm but fair).
Health: Michael Mosley (find him a bit patronising but he’d know what he was talking about).
Education: Victoria Coren-Mitchel (just clever).

That’ll do for starters!

New MPs? I have no idea. Maybe some of our Gransnetters.

Lib/Dem: I’m sorry, I absolutely have to mention my all time favourite LibDem leader, although he died sadly at the age of 55. Charles Kennedy, I thought he was a wonderful MP.

Labour: I really like Lisa Nandy and hope she stands again. I also like Alan Johnson and Frank Field. I think they were excellent, moderate MPs.

Conservative: probably Michael Portello, although I disliked him in Thatcher’s government, I think he’s mellowed and could bring a lot back to politics. He won’t come back though, he’s retired and busy making travel programmes which I very much enjoy watching. I also think Ken Clarke was good and moderate. He presented my son with his certificate to practice when he was called to the bar. He was/is a member of the same Inn of Court as my son joined.

Clare Balding as speaker. She's so polite.
