This thought struck, too, when I read Burn Murdoch's tweets.
He says:
Historically the views of men and women in the same generations have been very similar. This is still true for older age-groups, but a gap has opened between today’s young men and women.
His UK chart shows a strong divergence between men and women in the 18 -29 age group.
Will this eventually take the UK towards the extreme right, as per the question posed by the thread title?
Despite flappergirl's post showing advances women have made, men are still the dominant force in most areas of public life. As this 18 - 29 demographic becomes more active in public life will their 'conservative' views dominate?
And what about the generation coming along behind them?
Unless I’ve read it wrong, the graph still shows that the older you get the more right wing you are, and although there is a shift for men aged under 29 it’s not significant. It’s more likely to be a sign of the times they are experiencing at the moment, because the picture isn’t the same for women.
