Why would anyone want a liar, racist, and arrogant untrustworthy pair in any level. Do they hope to get invited to the next lot of hooray henry parties that should never have been held
Why indeed? I have literally no idea!

Anyone fancy a tory 'dream ticket' of Johnson and Farage?
(156 Posts)I can't begin to summarise this article

Fairycakes, assuming you’re serious, what exactly about Farage would make him a good PM? Aside from his obsession with Brexit and Mugrants, I know nothing about his policies/beliefs/views on the Economy, NHS, (ooops maybe he wants to privatise this), Education, how he would deal with our huge and growing number of British Homeless, Veterans, Transport, University Fees, and so on and so on. I have heard nothing from him ever about anything other than Brexit/EU/Migrants, our world is about so much more than this!
He’s currently a member of Reform!
The Reform Party UK is a registered company. Farage is a director of the company, along with Richard Tice and 2 others. It is just the renamed Brexit Party, of which Farage was also a director.

A little bit more than just a 'member'

Johnson “hard done by” good god!
Look at his political and employment history! I enjoyed his blatantly put on boyish buffoonery on Have I Got News For You, because he had a personality and was amusing! I appreciated him much less when he became London Major and spaffed all kinds of public money on water cannons and a garden bridge. From the moment he entered parliament he was a walking disaster.
Sadly, imo, he’s a liar, an adulterer, someone who never takes personal responsibility for his actions and I don’t believe his “sorry” speech at the Covid Inquiry.
All Johnson has ever been sorry about is being caught out!
As others had stated though, Trump and Johnson might just bluff their way back into politics.
Frankly, the world has gone quite mad!
P. S. I could be wrong but I doubt that Nigel farage would ever join the Conservatives again. I think he has his own plans 🤔
I guess I'm too old to emigrate now.
Sorry to anyone who hates Nigel Farage, but I'd be happy with him as P. M. 😁 I think he'd do a terrific job, but he and Boris are complete opposites and I think there would be a constant power tussle between them 🤣🤣
Maybe I am wrong - probably am. But wasn’t Farage a Tory sometime in his past ?
There's no way those two would get along for long 🤭
No, no, please no🙏🏻
Farage has stood for election to the House of Commons seven times, in five general elections and two by-elections, but has not won any of those elections.
None I believe as a Tory, but he has belonged to the Conservative Party, UKIP and run as an Independent. He’s currently a member of Reform!
A ghastly little man desperate to be elected to our HoC. Let’s 🙏🙏🙏 this never happens!
I simply cannot think of many things worse. I’m pretty sure Farage would race to the Tories if there was ever ever a chance of him becoming a British MP!
I simply refuse to think about this anymore as don’t wish to ruin the remainder of my day

The factions within the Tory party are making it difficult to lead I imagine. Sunak appeases one group and infuriates another. The One Nation group lead by Damien Green should join forces with the Lib Dems and the ERG with Reform. At least that would put some clear blue water between our options as voters!
If they can find any clear blue water with all the sewage and other unknown pollutants in it
.
While they are all busy wondering how to revive their fortunes as a party, the electorate is pondering their future utility bills... "As a result of this new price cap, prices will rise from 1st January 2024" (my latest communication from British Gas), and are possibly thinking of spending even less on their weekly supermarket shop - if they can, as they've already cut back because of some of the ridiculous price increases. I won't even mention the current situation in the NHS or Social Care.
I understand that immigration is important, but I don't really believe that anyone thinks sending a couple of planeloads of asylum seekers off to Rwanda is going to anywhere near solve the problem in any meaningful sense. We are still going to have to cover their accommodation and living costs for up to five years. And then, there are the vulnerable Rwandan refugees we are going to bring to the UK as part of the deal (the number has not been specified). A handful, a hundred, two hundred - who knows?
Perhaps the disgruntled party members think that Boris would "get Rwanda done" although I've no idea what position they believe Farage could hold...
I think your idea is a good one. This factional fighting does not solve any problems for the general public. And the in-fighting within the Labour party's not going to resolve our problems either.

Then I apologise….
I think you have misunderstood my post MayBee70.

Maizie I do realise that, which is why I thought I’d stick my oar in.
Precisely. Posters from other countries aren’t constantly under attack whenever they say anything.

The ERG has been keeping a very low profile recently, but they are out in force, with all claws and daggers out. What a nasty lot- how come we tax payers are funding their seedy activities.
The ERG are a group of Conservative MP’s
Chair Mark Francoise
Deputy Chair Andrea Jenkins
Not sure what seedy activities you are accusing them of?
They did make a statement yesterday regarding the Rwanda Bill which they are against.
I think most Political Parties have groups within them, this one is relatively new as it was formed in 1993.

Lots of taxes are paid by non-residents. Taxes related to property, for example, including on rental income. Some pensions are liable for income tax in the UK regardless of where one lives. VAT where applicable on items that remain in the UK or VATable services that are used here.
You have to realise, Siope that the comment was part of a personal attack on the poster who said 'we taxpayers'. It's a long running and unpleasant campaign which Gnet seems unwilling to deal with.

On factions: there are at least six, five on the swivel-eyed loons wing of the party:
- Krugerite New Conservatives
- Francois-led ERG
- Stevensonian (possibly slightly less swivel eyed) Northern Research group
- Hayesian culture warriors, the Common Sense Group
- the Redwood coterie of maximum madness, Truss supporters No Turning Back
Not sure how much they are at war with each other, but they are all at war with Sunak, and quite possibly with
- the One-Nation Tories, whom the Cameroons excluded from swivel-eyed loon status, although some may wonder why, and who are themselves also now apparently at war with Sunak.
It reads like a novel about a dystopian future, doesn’t it.

The horrific thing is with the Conservative party as it is now, in Mrs Thatcher's words TINA, There Is No (credible) Alternative.
Remember when there was - Mrs Thatcher, but also Michael Heseltine, Ken Clarke, Peter Walker, Lord Carrington, John Major.
One may not have supported Conservative Paty, but these men were towering intellects compared with the current shower and all were respected over seas and competent.
This lot couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery.
Yes, it's possible to have some respect for those who represent a party you don't align with.
I wonder if Margaret Thatcher isn't turning in her grave...
