It's no wonder that Jewish people living in the UK should be worried many people, including several on here conflate antisemitism with anti Zionism. There is a big difference.

Following the defacing of a Cenotaph in Rotherham yesterday, would it be advisable for the police to rule that marches in or around the area of the Cenotaph should not be allowed, this weekend only?
A poppy seller was attacked by people in a huge crowd this week, people who have been marching on previous weekends have committed hate crimes by calling for Jews to be eliminated. Should the sanctity of the Cenotaph and the Remembrance Service be at the mercy of the marchers to choose to do the right thing? Why was a Cenotaph thought to be a legitimate target in Rotherham?
Surely those who live in our liberal democracy should understand why this weekend is particularly special to so many people. Those of us who live in this country, a liberal democracy, should understand that compared to so many people in the world, we are very lucky to live in a country that affords us great freedoms, including the right to protest peacefully. Peaceful protest however, does not include the right to call for the deaths of other people, to attack poppy sellers or others, or to deface public buildings.
Why are the London police refusing to use the laws that are already available to ban any marching around this area for for this one weekend?

Dinahmo I don’t find it hard to believe that the silent majority support Suella Braverman - and I don’t think that she will be ousted. Gove needs to go.
Can someone please explain why the cross of St George is so important? He wasn't from the British Isles; his origins aren't certain. It is believed that he came from Cappadocia. He was believed to be a Roman soldier, a Christian and was beheaded for refusing to recant his Christian faith. He was buried, apparently, at Lydda, (or Lod) in Israel.
George is the patron state of a number of countries and regions, not just England.
Yes, I am sure the EDL thugs would find it hard to believe St George was from Palestine, and is the Patron of so many countries and regions, Valencia, Catalonia, the Balearics, Malta, Sicily and Sardinia, the origins of the veneration of St. George go back to their shared history as territories under the Crown of Aragon, thereby sharing the same legend.
And that he is revered in Islam.
Thugs and bigots don't want to be informed, they just want to spout their vile opinions and be told they are right in what they believe.
I think most of us know all about St George but thank you anyway
😁
According to Dan Hodges in the Mail on Sunday, Suella Braverman is urging Sunak to call a snap election if the Supreme Court riles against the Rwanda plan next Wednesday, and to make that election all about the small boats issue.

So did anyone here attend the anti-war demonstration, then?

I find it very hard to believe.
Where is the evidence to support this assertion?
If anyone had attended anything and wanted us to know, I'm sure'they would have told us Rowantree.

Well, I did.
At no time did I feel in any way unsafe or threatened. The march was full of warmth, inclusivity, friendship and motivation.
What better way to honour Armistice Day than by calling for one?
I was part of the Jewish group.

And thanks to Corbyn and his disciples the far left associated with antisemitism
Wrongly, mostly.
To some, criticism of Israel is the same thing as antisemitism.
Jews have been suspended from the Labour party for 'antisemitism'.

👍👍👍.
Yes my friends daughter and son went. They came home elated at the experience and said like you the inclusivity of the it.
PS they are Jewish.
Judging by the huge marches in Europe, USA and elsewhere, support for a ceasefire is growing exponentially. Israel, is loosing support.
I’m not proud of the flag waving, ugly tattooed thugs out for a punch up with the police (why?)
There has just been a large March in France against antisemitism attented by French politicians, Germany have announced restrictions on pro Hamas marches.
My Jewish friend tells me that whatever Hamas does to the Israelis they will return threefold because that is how they will stop them. He is very sure of this. Frightening and doesn't bode well for a ceasefire.
Maizie D snap poll in DT around three quarters of survey in favour of SB. Conservative Home article by Paul Goodman - supporting SB.
Nadine Dorries wrote wondering if Gove was drunk when he ventured out to Victoria station on Saturday - so why would Gove inflame tensions by walking out? He’s a controversial figure and has shown yet more poor judgment. Or was he desperate to have the photo opportunity?
The poll I saw was 78% in support of braverman, now polls can be unreliable but it's very dangerous to think that the louder voices in the media etc reflect public opinion. As has been shown quite comprehensively in recent years it is often not the case.
Oh and politicians should be able to walk wherever they like.
Galaxy no other high profile politician felt the need to go out for a walk in the middle of a huge demonstration.
The left wing press is loudly against SB so best discount anything written there too.

The headline I saw was over 72% of Conservative voters.

Which one is Nadine? The pot or the kettle?

He does seem to be very unlucky. Apparently the same thing happened when he tried to walk through a group of anti-vaxx protesters and, before that, some anti-Brexiters. Fortunately, press photographers were there to capture the moments. It's weird really because I would have thought he would have had an official car for these trips.
I dont care if he was walking there in order to perform a one man show of Strictly Come Dancing to be honest. It makes me very uncomfortable the way people talk about it. I suppose its reminiscent of why was she walking there, dressed like that, etc.
There was a similar poll in the telegraph growstuff but of course that too is aimed at a particular section of the population, I am just wary of thinking that the loud voices are the majority, they often tend not to be.
