Boris Johnson has resigned with immediate effect !

I've just realised I am now unrepresented in Parliament. I wonder if i will make any difference?

We certainly live in interesting times. I think it's the end of this period of Conservative rule, and probably sooner than full term.

Listening to Stewart and Campbell - some thoughts that he intends Sunak to lose the election and Johnson will then come back as leader of the opposition - not sure how, unless he grabs Dorries seat? Sunak would be mad to accept that!

I do think that they are right when they argue that Johnson is intent on splitting the Tory party apart. There is a right wing faction led by Johnson, that has no care for the U.K. - the only care they have is for themselves.

Oh, have they done an emergency podcast? I must listen to it. I checked last night but it was probably a bit too early!

I assume they would, but given a safe enough seat, he could ride that out.

Andy Burnham is a good mayor. He stood twice as leader. Lost to Corbyn sadly.

And he seems to be good at it, from what I can gather (that's Andy Burnham, not Boris Johnson ). What is more, as an aside, there was a picture of him visiting the factory where new buses are being made for Manchester, and he was driving a bus (in the grounds of the factory, it seemed) without the need to put on a bus driver's hat or hi-vis jacket to make him 'look the part' as so many politicians feel they must.

Another interesting article from last year. The sadness expressed by Johnson's relative is almost palpable.

No. His never- to-be- finished book on Shakespeare is evidence of that.
Several real Shakespearean historians of note have been contacted by Johnson to ‘help’ him to finish it.
He’s also had a massive advance for it.
I did a spot of research into it some months ago when we were discussing Johnson’s attitude to money versus his work ethic.

I’m not sure about his political return.

Someone (I wish I could remember who) said that Johnson always wanted to be Prime Minister; always wanted to have been Prime Minister; but wasn’t so keen on doing the stuff in the middle.

How can people say it is a witch hunt when even just one of his proven transgressions would have ended the career of any other politician?Arcuri? Illegally trying to prorogue parliament? What finished him off was thinking that the rules he imposed on other people didn’t apply to him because of his narcissism. Hoisted by his own petard.

The duplicitous behaviour of Harriet Harman and Sue Gray speaks volumes, as does that of Rishi Sunak.

I not so sure that Dorries is Just a tantrum, though there's an element of that. I suspect she and Johnson think they've stabbed Sunak with great big tailor's scissors, like that episode of Midsummer.
