There's no point going to France. Apparently Paris is cleansing the city of asylum seekers and homeless people in readiness for the Olympic Games. People are being relocated to the capital of Brittany much to the displeasure of the Bretons.

Very short sighted and very hard hearted I m not going into any arguments but let’s hope you never are in a war zone or your family never in need of help
I m not religious but I do remember the Bible story of Mary and Joseph knocking on all doors and having them closed in their faces whether there were such people as Mary and Joseph or whether it’s just a story what better way to describe you shutting the door than that

It makes much more sense for refugees to seek safety with their own people, and for us to provide help with settling them in their new country.

It isn't a question of one or the other we should be doing both. It is just incredible that one of the poorest countries on the planet can welcome people whilst we, one of the richest, want to keep people out.

What do you mean by "their own people"? Chad and Sudan are different countries. Has anybody asked the people of Chad whether they want hundreds of thousands of people from Sudan claiming it is "their new country"?

Unfortunately, as well as conflict, the effects of global warming will mean many more people on the planet will migrate. There is no easy answer to any of it. However each country has a responsibility to its own citizens and there clearly is a limit to how many people each country can physically take. Wealthy countries should help the poorer ones to sort out problems at home as wealth is so unevenly distributed.

Climate change is a factor but parts of Africa are very fertile indeed and enough food could be grown and exported to neighbouring countries.

The problem is civil wars, fighting factions and just a few groups led by militant ps and terrorists who cause misery and mayhem for their own populations. The situation is dire for many, but starvation is preventable if there was peace.

Africa could indeed feed itself and export too, but it wont there are far too many political and religious despots that are only interested in personal wealth. While China pays for resources taken in whatever form, be it aid or arms or a Swiss bank account it’s not going to change

And off course we have no political despots here 🤣🤣🤣
