She's been speaking out about women's issues for much longer and was involved in UN issues in 2015
Yes, I've heard/read them.
This speech was not in the same category at all.
Anyone else struggle with this?
Just now

No offence at all Marydoll!
It's just such a descriptive phrase that describes both phenomena perfectly. Doesn't really cover my lapses when I think I've said, for example, 'toothpaste' but I've actually said 'orange'

I think much on this thread is a vivid illustration of how superficial some people's feminism really is. If a woman speaks out, criticises the RF or dares to have ambition she's fair game. We haven't really moved that far away from burning witches.
Yes, exactly.
A perfect storm of racism and misogyny. The same people that claim they're standing up for women's rights when they spout anti trans rhetoric.
if this were men talking down about a woman like this, what would you call them? What would you think of them? How would you describe them?
I'd say they are someone who prefers someone to give an articulate and comprehensible speech.
It's irrelevant.
I'd say the same to a man who spoke gobbledegook.

This thread, truly -
. . . . . if this were men talking down about a woman like this, what would you call them? What would you think of them? How would you describe them? Sad, maybe, pathetic, probably. All that is called for here is knitting needles and a gallows - my opinion, on a discussion forum.
Oh, what a daft post 😁
No, I'm not being snidey, I'd tell Meghan if I saw her.
It was a garbled speech and she needs to express herself more clearly if she wishes to inspire people.
She never used to do this years ago. Have you ever listened to her?

I agree with you Glorianny that Meghan might be well suited to politics and I would have no objection to her becoming a politician in the USA.
Speaking out for women, supporting them and promoting opinions which highlight women's issues and equality has to be a good thing doesn't it. This would be commendable, but as I mentioned before, so far she has mainly wanted to speak about herself and diss the RF. She would need to stop being so vain.
That's not actually true. She has I think made one or two speeches about the RF. She's been speaking out about women's issues for much longer and was involved in UN issues in 2015.

But actually thinking about this what is wrong with her advancing her career and perhaps choosing to enter politics? She wouldn't be the first actor to do so. She might be the first woman actor. Which actually is good news surely
Well, she'd certainly confuse everyone if she carried on speaking as she did recently.
So yes, she could make a politician 😁
She is suited to be in politics, she certainly lies.

^I think the RF probably wanted to keep her quiet. Speaking out isn't something they do.^
I think there is a difference between speaking and speaking out. Does the latter not imply publicising your allegations against those who have wronged you? Meghan's list during her time with the RF is quite long, do the RF probably does want her to keep quiet, not necessarily keep her quiet.
Those she bullied are too dignified to speak out; it's a pity because there is always more than one side to a story and we only have Meghan's Truth, not The Truth.

The couple have no wish to live their life in peace, they want
Lights, camera, action.
And something to moan over in the next booky wook to justify the big wads of cash from the publisher.
Having read the whole thread seems a bit of a non incident really. If they let the press get some free pics of them instead of charging the mags for using them they may be left alone sometimes.
The couple nearing 40 are in for a shock, no one gets to live their lives completely their own way.

The couple want to live their life their way.
Without press intrusion. They don't want the lights, camera, action, unless it's in a controlled way - such as the Netflix series.
Not while being driven home.
Not while staying at friends.
Not while being at home with family.

I don't normally get involved in H&M threads ( although I do shop there occasionally !) but I do agree that the speech quoted is very odd and seems to be a lot of words strung together meaning nothing. I would describe it as Balderdash.
I don't know how much good each of these people do, so do not want to comment on that, merely that if a student had written this ( when I was teaching undergraduates)I would have underlined this and asked him/her/ them to explain and rewrite.

Actually Glorianny her work with the UN etc isn’t nearly as great as she and you would have us believe. It’s been looked into and it was more to do with raising her profile than any advocacy for human rights.
I have heard this too. Most of the claims made about her have been looked into and debunked. Try reading Tom Bower’s book about Meghan. He is known for his accuracy as he insists on gathering evidence from at least two witnesses. My son’s got his book about Boris Johnson. I intend to read that too.

Or are some people still not really as feminist as they like to think and is an ambitious, beautiful young woman speaking out a bit much for them?
As for Tom Bowers book. There were reports that it was taken off the shelves in the US and Canada One of the reasons being this letter contradicting his claims about an interview

DH taught our youngest to say Rimski Korsakov whenever anybody asked her her name. She was under two! 😂
Small children love to pick up random words and phrases from adults even if they don’t know what they mean and even better if it grabs attention.
I LOVE this Merlot Gran!

I wonder who looked into it tickingbird not someone who wanted to make sure she was just castigated in the UK surely??
