I agree Callistemon. And of course innocent bystanders suffer from the tear gas and water cannon treatment - not just protesters. I remember when BJ was London Mayor he purchased some water cannons but the police weren’t allowed to use them.

I think they were sold to Belgium, Germanshepherdsmum where they are used.

I'd like to think that, out of respect for the thousands who did visit London from all around the world as well as the UK, to watch and enjoy the Coronation procession, the protestors could have stayed away and made their protests on another occasion.

The problem is, they don't respect the views of all those other visitors.

Oh I understood, that was clear.

Sufragettes disturbed events. Anti slavery groups did too. And so many others. I can totally understand that many people despair at the impending ecological disaster caused by our refual to tackle climate change, and that this event, which had no meaning to them, and which appalled them by the enormous expense, etc, at a time of real crisis- saw it fit to disturb.

It is, and has been for a very long time, quintessentially British to be allowed to demonstrate disapproval. An strongly integral part of our culture.

I was struck by the comments about Eurovision, that if you don't like it you could turn it off. Which is absolutely true of course, I 100% agree with that. And often that's what people say about the coronation.

But then we don't have to support Sam Ryder and his extended family to live in luxury for the next 500 years and give him rights to control our state and have secret meetings with the PM, and expect deference.

It is quintessentially human.

Sam R fully supports the monarchy because they stand for such similar themes that Eurovision celebrates as well, like unity, togetherness, and solidarity.
Saw no problem with the enormous expense of either event this month.
