If there has been misappropriation of funds then the perpetrator(s) must face justice.
But the slavering pleasure that some people are taking in this is just disgusting.

Does Farage ever stop (breaking rules)
Police have arrested Colin Beattie, treasurer of the SNP today. Peter Murrell is still under police investigation, the unknown provenance of a £110,000 campervan parked up at Nicola Sturgeon's mother in law's driveway and now the treasurer has been arrested. What on earth is going on within the SNP? Are they trying to emulate Boris?

Good Lord, I know.
🤦🏼♀️
Seriously, is that your answer?
I see my comment didn't work then. Over the heads it flew... Won't try that again.
Gransnetters forced to admit that they didn't know about auditors.
Hmmm, that's the trouble with making assumptions about people you know nothing about*volver*. The books that you audit for a charity are nothing like those for businesses or political parties as they are subject to totally different accounting laws.
As a political party the SNP is not covered by company or charities law, but by the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 and under this regime, the auditor is only responsible for reporting to the National Treasurer of the Scottish National Party. They are subject to the FRS 102 reporting framework. Jon Snow
But there's no court case
Sorry, not court case, police investigation.
But there's no court case against Mone, so we can't be in contempt of court.
When there are questions about probity in Scotland, we have a police investigation.
When there are questions about probity around the Baroness of Mayfair she runs off with the money and we never hear anything about it again.
Rather dangerous to call Baroness Mone a thief on a public forum, I would have thought.
There were constant reminders about comments being in contempt of court or similar when the news about Nicola Sturgeon and Peter Murrell was discussed.
Aye, Rosie51, what do you know?
So I'll ask again...how does your CA DH explain that they resigned in September which is only 3/4 of the way through the year, so the books for 2022 wouldn't have been nearly complete?
You are making an assumption about why the auditors resigned and I'm sure your CA DH would confirm that there is no evidence that anybody refused to sign anything.
There's just conjecture.
volver with your auditing experience maybe you could offer to do the SNP's accounts. Or are they maybe a tad more complex and larger than the charity account you do?
I would have thought the auditors should have given enough notice to enable a replacement to be appointed seamlessly, but what do I know? Just doesn't seem very honourable business practice to me.
From my experience -DH was a CA for 45 years, refusing to sign the accounts is tantamount to a vote of no confidence in a company’s financial affairs, its management and the board of directors in general.
Can someone explain how its so bad that auditors who resigned in September 2022 haven't audited the books that cover a period up to the end of 2022?
p.s. I audit the books for a charity. If I don't do it by August the charity will face a hefty fine too. To be honest, I'm not losing that much sleep about it yet.
Gransnetters forced to admit that they didn't know about auditors.
See how that works? Doubt it.....
Foxygloves is correct. Their original auditors. Johnston Carmichael, resigned from their position in September 2022 although Humza Yousaf claims to have not been made aware of that when he took over as FM. The SNP has been searching for a replacement auditor ever since but has failed to find another company to take over and sign off their accounts. This leaves them in the position of facing a hefty fine if they fail to submit their audited accounts to the Electoral Commission by 7th July. It's a dog's breakfast.
Volver I know you don't care.
Well, I'm still saying nothing. Because it's a live case
Agreed.

Interesting though that the Treasurer got arrested and released without charge on the day that Yousaf was launching his program for government. Interesting that the police thought that an arrest at 8am was reasonable for someone who wasn't a flight risk. Interesting that the well known Unionist Rhinestone Cowboy BBC reporter thought it was appropriate to ask Yousaf if the SNP government was a criminal operation. Interesting that there have been no revelations at all but so many people are tossing about words like "theft" and "fraud".
So many co-incidences.
so accusing her of being contemptuous and sneering seems to be unfounded.

Of course. It's all Westminster's fault! 😂
Well nobody said that did they, but its a common unionist trope to say that they did. Smiley faces don't help, they just make you look contemptuous and sneering.
Yes, in fact, someone did say just that.
It's a common theme with some to blame everything that is wrong in Scotland on the UK Government.
This is just WM showing its teeth ,like they did over the gender bill and the refusal of a referendum !
I think Aveline was responding to that, which you may have missed, volver, so accusing her of being contemptuous and sneering seems to be unfounded.

What REVELATIONS? Taken in for questioning about accounts that were audited and passed by not o ly the Scottish auditors but Westminster ones too. Released WITHOUT charge ,
Shame you're not all chasing the Baroness MONE or any of the other tory thieves about whom there is a ton of REAL evidence .

Were they in fact signed off?
I thought the Auditors resigned which in Accountancy terms is pretty damning

You've never heard my verbal responses.
Probably just as well.
Volver- not like your verbal responses at all then?! 😂

Investigations on-going, and no-one charged as yet, so any judgemental comment is pure speculation at this point.. not that that has ever stopped the gutter press in the past. Nevertheless, I certainly don't envy Humza Yousaf his position right now. I think that he knew that he was being dealt a difficult hand after Nicola Sturgeon's hasty, and dare I suggest, somewhat suspicious departure, but he may well have actually ended up with a poisoned chalice. Only time will tell.
