Senior Tories want Braverman to stop her racist rhetoric

Casdon. I think that tough problems need tough solutions. And not everyone is going to like them. I lost patience with the fake Conservatives in the Tory party a while ago. Perhaps a genuine Conservative approach would be better for everyone.

But it’s completely irrelevant to the central point of the thread, which to remind you, is about senior Tories wanting Braverman to stop her racist rhetoric. You’re defecting, why not say what you think about that?

Not everybody doing a difficult job is actually any good at it though.

And if that job is one of the 4 offices of state of the UK, I'll complain all I like.

How does that make Braverman right?

He doesn't have to have suggestions for solving it. He's not even in opposition. He's commenting on Braverman's behaviour and inflammatory rhetoric and I agree with his observation.

Just because people don't like Campbell doesn't make Braverman right.

What I would like to know is if/when the Labour Party get elected, what would be their plan to deal with the influx of thousands of migrants.

I would sincerely hope that the Labour Party did not use racist rhetoric to convince people of the need to reduce migration..racist rhetoric not only tries to convince people of the small boats argument, but it also casts a shadow, as we have seen (the young girls and Asian men) with promoting racism throughout our country when we so separately need to ensure a good community spirit and fellowship.

Precisely. I think they are deliberately taking over hotels in prominent places and filling them with migrants to antagonise the local population. Mind you, local to me they are making a point of doing community work to keep themselves busy so the plan might start to backfire on them.However, the plan is working in that many people think it is the major problem facing this country. Which it isn’t.

What has that got to do with a thread that’s specifically about Braverman’s approach to her job?

She reminds me of the class creep. Puts her hand up at every question, even when she doesn’t know the answer - she’s desperate to be teacher’s pet and will stop at nothing to be noticed.

I think the racist element came in when she declared, incorrectly, that the Rochdale grooming gangs were predominantly Asian; they were not, the majority were white.

Wouldn’t we all like to know the answer NanKate!

It is senior tories not just Farsi who are alarmed at Bravermans rhetoric, and who are pushing Sunak to take action and get rid of her.

Of course many other commentators think that her comments are racist (I think that there is no question) but she isn’t worried about them, it is her own party she has to deal with.

Oh and she has a reputation of being a mediocre lawyer.

Talking of Campbell and Farage... can't remember the name of the podcast but I heard someone comment that on an Irish TV programme Campbell had told Farage to take responsibility for something by saying

I cannot understand how Braverman got into this position.
When she was a barrister she would defend asylum seekers . Could the ERG be responsible for supporting someone who will side with them .She was after all the chairman of the ERG group.
I do not however think that her choice of language is at all appropriate. It is divisive , racist, not based on fact and they are right to be worried. It is no use thinking that racism is only between white skin and people of colour.
Braverman is using this rhetoric deliberately to keep herself in the headlines and show she's supporting the far right. She's aiming for the leadership.Well said Baroness Farsi.

No thanks Baggs. But it's true. The colour of a person's skin doesn't stop anybody being racist. Why should it?

Braverman seems to think as she's from an immigrant background and a Person of Colour herself it gives her license to say what she likes.

She's positioning herself as a darling of the Right with an eye on a future leadership contest - loathsome woman IMO.

Maybe as a woman of colour and from an immigrant background herself she feels free to speak up without any fear of being thought a racist.There’s always another way to look at things.
