I follow and support many different Hunt Saboteurs on social media, Facebook and Twitter, and am convinced there is absolute rubbish that's spouted about trail hunts. The terrier men are documented, videoed, holding live foxes to release on the day of a "trail hunt", which of course the hounds - as trained - will scent and hunt down.
There's video out there of young fox cubs being thrown to the dogs - not the most recent from the Avon Vale hunt, the video I've (unwillingly) seen dates back a few years.
It is absolutely barbaric. If it were domesticated dogs and/or cats hunting would have stopped years ago. It sickens me, it really does. I wouldn't associate with anyone who thought such behaviour as acceptable or, indeed, desirable. Utterly deplorable.
Avon Vale Hunt have been permanently expelled from the "Governing Body," The British Hounds Sports Association today. This report from the BBC Website -
A Wiltshire-based hunt has been thrown out of the sport's governing body after footage of a fox being thrown to the hounds was posted online.
The clip - - appears - - to show members of the Avon Vale Hunt dig the animal from its den before tossing it to waiting dogs.
It sparked a public outcry, and the British Hound Sports Association (BHSA) suspended the hunt's membership.
The Lacock-based hunt was given time to appeal but the BHSA has decided to expel it permanently.
The video, filmed on 20 December and first reported by ITV News, shows those involved cheering and laughing as the fox tries to escape the dogs.
It has been illegal to hunt foxes in England since 2004 but hunts are permitted to simulate a chase by following a pre-laid scent, which is known as drag hunting.
The BHSA said in a statement on Monday that a panel considering gross misconduct said it had concluded the only appropriate sanction was to permanently ban the Avon Vale Hunt. >ends
There were two foxes thrown to the hounds that day. The huntsman shouting "It's a brace" as he threw the second to the dogs. This video was shared on Whatsapp between the Hunt.
The recent case of the fox in the garden being killed by hounds - that case is with the Police, three men have been arrested and bailed, bail conditions are, I understand : Not to partake in trail hunting activities. Not to contact or interfere with witnesses (including sabs). Not to be in a public place in charge of a dog not on a lead.
There was a case reported from the weekend in Scotland (Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire) of two hunt supporters discussing a female saboteur, one saying to known terrier man Davie Morrin "I'd rape her".
Many cases of cats being killed by dogs out of control.
Hunting is against the law but the Police have many times ignored it, and in fact many Police Officers are members of Hunts - this in the last week : Wiltshire Police’s Rural Crime Team has recently announced its new recruit, PC Cheryl Knight. Knight has links to both the Beaufort Hunt and the Avon Vale Hunt. There's a demonstration planned for this weekend in protest at her appointment.
And this - In 2016, a Cheshire cop linked to the Cheshire hunt, misused her powers when out with the hunt in a personal capacity. Claire Ford was understood to be alongside the Cheshire Forest Hunt when it clashed with activists who disrupted the ride. When the protesters allegedly strayed from the public bridleway and onto private land, PC Ford came over and identified herself as an officer and escorted them off. Further - In 2021 she accessed and passed on confidential information to a 3rd party.
Boxing Day 2021 - Hunt supporters clashed with demonstrators, with Police in attendance including W168 PC Laura Hughes, who was assigned to police the event despite it being common knowledge that PC Laura Hughes is involved with Avon Vale Hunt and was seen laughing and joking with them before the violence - which can be seen on YouTube if you care to look.
Horrid, vile stuff and anyone that would think it's a great way to spend a day - in my opinion - needs their head examining.
