I'm another that thinks the monarchy is well past its sell-by date. But if we have to keep it (for now!) surely the coronation shouldn't be so lavish, particularly with the current disgraceful levels of poverty and hardship in the the UK. A simple inauguration as happens in other European monarchies would suffice. But no, we have to go the whole hog - bread and circuses once more. If there's to be a concert I suggest the inclusion of Sam Cooke's "A Change is Gonna Come".
Anyone else struggle with this?
