I’m sorry I’m a bit late to this discussion but am flabbergasted by Grandyma’s comments about living in a Republic. I live in, and am a citizen of the Republic of Ireland and I assure you, we’re doing great! While I love looking at the pagentry of your Royal family, the amount being spent as your NHS etc is being run into the ground would stick in my craw. To be honest, I’m not really sure what the actual day to day differences between most modern Republics and Monarchies are! I mean, you’re hardly all being ruled by royal decrees are you? Isn’t it more ceremonial? Certainly don’t mean to offend anyone, live and let live, and all that 😁
