Fears of ‘conflict’ between future king’s travel and his role as a green champion
The Prince of Wales took more than 20 private flights, including several helicopters, within the UK last year in order to avoid being stuck in traffic, it has emerged.
The heir to the throne is said to be “allergic” to travelling by helicopter, one of the most polluting modes of travel.
However, the annual Sovereign Grant report revealed that he took several flights during the last financial year, including hopping between engagements in Northern Ireland and Wales and a 70-mile trip from London to RAF Brize Norton, in order to catch a charter flight to Jordan.
The Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall also appear to have flown separately to Wales by helicopter from their respective homes, Highgrove in Gloucestershire and Ray Mill in Wiltshire.
The couple took more than 15 charter flights, including to and from Belfast, and multiple journeys from residence to residence - including Glasgow to Northolt last July and Northolt to Marham to Aberdeen in December.
It comes as the Duchy of Cornwall, the Prince’s landed estate, outlined its ambition to reach net zero carbon by the early 2030s.

Yes our new king is a climate hypocrite, taking all these helicopter rides, private jets etc, but that does not mean that his views on climate change are wrong.
They are right. It's just that he doesn't see they apply to him and his family.
I believe that he genuinely holds these views on the environment and climate change and if his elevation to the monarchy means he cannot express these views he should delegate that task to the new Prince of Wales.
If the government will not allow him to attend the COP he must ensure a video speech from a member of his family is heard there. This PM has no right to veto that.

Climate change due to man made intervention might well be observable or measurable albeit highly debated within scientific circles.
The response to climate change is entirely political and the subject of an alarming response on the part of governments, business, the establishment and media to hijack democracy and enforce an authoritarian, top down regime which stifles debate and freedom.
The idea that some wish us to sit in the dark freezing and eating state doled out lentils is terrifying when science, technology, political will and intellectual freedom can fix any problem thrown up by CC.

Don't know Anniel if you will get your wish as when Nichola Sturgeon arrived at Dunferline today for an event to mark it's status as a city she was booed by the waiting crowds. It was King Charles' first official duty as king and was well attended by the people of the new city who gave him a great welcome.
Alie2Oxon Thank you for your worthwhile and considered response - I agree that Liz Truss is dangerous and hope that all of us who believe this will do something about it. I have emailed my Tory MP and his assistant replied agreeing with me and pointing out that my MP supported Rishi! We all need to let our elected member know what we think - they do take notice of messages from constituents. Also support worthwhile petitions by signing them, and make donations if you can to e.g. the Good Law Project who are working to use the law to keep the government from breaking the law......again......and feeling appropriate consequences for what they have already done. Law makers should be law keepers! And while we are at it - lets support Proportional Representation - its a far better system to make sure voters views actually make a difference.

I'm with Volver - largely. This is SUCH a big issue, and yes, we all know that technology has brought us many benefits, but until we go all out and say there has to be a better way there will always be excuses. Yes, Charles should have gone - he's probably confused about the boundaries and trying to find his feet and do as good a job as his mother, but the poor boy has landed with Truss, at his inception. I agree the RF come across as hypocrites, but I wonder how much choice they have, without really taking a tough stance on how those about them organise their transport etc. And in respect of renewables, WHY are new houses STILL BEING BUILT without solar panels?? Climate change is not really being taken seriously, there's too much green-washing and the ideology of this government will only make it worse.
