It is useful in so many fields, from the RF down to the “He pushed me over and I didn’t do anything. You can ask anyone.” in the playground.
So thank you very much to the late Queen-or Sir Clive.

I for one don't believe that the late Queen personally wrote the Buckingham Palace Statements any more than I believe that the King writes his own speeches. Of course they sign them off and tweak them, that's how it works.

However if focussing on the "recollections may vary" statement, attention should be given to the whole sentence: While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.

It means that different people have different views of what was said and it is being investigated. Very diplomatic indeed, but far from calling anyone a liar, wouldn't you say?

Merely saying what was reported in the Times article about what a clever and trusted man the Kings adviser is and that is where they clearly state it was his phrase

the recollections may vary statement very cleverly didn't state that lies had been told but neatly summed up what the royal family and many people too I dare say thought of Harry and Meghan and their victimhood status.
